It has been many years since we have seen Sega in the console market, and during their time they were not very successful, which led them to abandon this segment to focus on others with which they generated much more money, although years later their consoles and games have become products that attract a lot of nostalgia. That is why we have seen many cases in which emulators tried to imitate what these consoles offered, but now, we can have a unique version that perfectly imitates their operation, the new SuperSega console.

Many times we can find a large number of projects that offer us the ability to play old titles through emulators, but many people may think that this causes us to lose the essence of what it was really like to use the original consoles. It is for this reason that the project of SuperSegawhich seeks to offer a unique console in the world that is capable of running the games of the vast majority of devices it originally created segaallowing you to play titles from MegaDrive, Master System and SC/SG among others.

When we talk about retro consoles, one of the companies that most comes to mind is segaand the Japanese company, despite not having manufactured a console new in many years, it continues to attract a large number of fans around the world who seek to relive the old days. A while ago we were able to see how a project was presented that sought to unite all the company’s consoles into one, and now we know what the new device called SuperSegawhich seeks to allow all users who purchase one to mitigate nostalgia once and for all.

Today we were able to see the presentation of the motherboard that will power this console, and we expected no less, since it is a model that allows extremely high compatibility, whether with older or newer technologies. And this board comes with a large number of connectors that will allow us to incorporate peripherals of all types, since it has 4 USB type A ports, 4 DB-9 ports, without leaving aside the three slots for original SC cartridges /SG, Master System and MegaDrive.

This is not the only way we will be able to play our favorite titles, since in addition to allowing original cartridges, it also has a Micro SD card reader and a connector for Compact Flash that will allow us to run Dreamcast, Saturn and MegaCD games. As for the outputs it incorporates, we can find two HDMI ports, a VGA connector and even the three characteristic RCA connectors.

And the games?

You are probably wondering how the games will work on this new console, and there really isn’t much to explain, since as we can well imagine, we can connect practically all the original cartridges of each of the consoles to be able to play whatever we want. . In addition to this, the developers have assured that the final version of this console will also have a CD reader, so we could also run the titles through this storage system. As for the price, we can think that it is a bit exorbitant, but taking into account that it is created with high quality materials and has a series of new functions as we have mentioned, and the basic model will cost about €490 (€350 first units), while the Plus models will have a price of €590 (€375 first units).
