Fortunately, some users like Matt, from the Tech by Matt YouTube channel, have the imagination and the knowledge necessary to carry out different projects.
The one we show you below is quite original since it has converted an old Nintendo Wii in a gaming PC with an interesting feature since it also allows you to use the controls of another classic Nintendo console such as the GameCube.
They create a PC with the shell of a Nintendo Wii
According to Matt in the video that we can see above, unlike other projects in which a PC is assembled from scratch, this one has used a mini PC from the manufacturer Minisforumspecifically the UM773 model.
The mini PC Minisforum UM773 is managed by the processor Ryzen 7 7735HS with Zen 3 architecture with 8 cores and 16 threads, a maximum clock speed of 4.75 GHz and integrated graphics Radeon 680M.
Although it is not AMD’s most powerful integrated graphics for laptops and mini PCs, the Radeon 680M has 12 computing units RDNA 2more than enough to move most of the current games on the market without much graphical load between 40 and 60 FPS without many problems.
In fact, this graphics card offers performance very similar to what we can find on the portable console. Steam Deck from Valve that has 8 RDNA 2 computing units and 4 Zen 2 cores.
In order to adapt all the outputs of the Minisforum mini PC used to carry out this project, as expected, it was necessary to use a 3D printera printer that has also been used for the internal support of the motherboard.
From the original Nintendo Wii, in addition to using the case, it has also used the controller connectors to add support to the GameCube controllersalthough any other controller can be connected to it, either via USB or Bluetooth.
To play or emulate all types of consoles
As we can see in the video, Matt has tried different console emulators and even competitive titles like Valorant, offering decent performance, although it is not the best option.
This equipment is perfect to use as a traditional console next to the television and play titles such as Minecraft, Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Mario titles with an emulator (although some emulators require greater graphics and processor resources), and other cooperative games where a very high number of FPS is not necessary.
If you have a Nintendo Wii in a box that you no longer use or that stopped working and you are not interested in trying to fix it, you can easily convert it into a mini PC, either using this model from Minisforum or any other that includes a APU from AMD with integrated graphics.
