The monetization of cosmetics in video games has become a thorny issue. Not because of the sale of items that make us unique and different from most players, but because of the amounts of money that are charged. Bungie and Blizzard are two examples of companies that charge 20-30 euros for a single skin from Destiny 2 and Diablo IV. And the worst thing is that it only works for one of the game’s classes.
Helldivers 2 has a similar monetization system: it has a premium currency called Super Credits/Super Earth Credits and a shop that displays some pretty cool armor, helmets, and capes. On the plus side, the value of the skins isn’t too high. An armor can cost between 150 and 400 credits, and a helmet 75-125 credits.
- 150 Super Earth Credits: 1.99 euros
- 375 Super Earth Credits: 4.99 euros
- 1,000 Super Earth Credits: 9.99 euros
- 2,100 Super Earth Credits: 19.99 euros
An armor set costs approximately 5-6 euros. If we want to add a helmet, then we would be talking about 10 euros. These are more reasonable figures than the games mentioned at the beginning. The good news is that you don’t have to spend a single euro to get these credits, although you must be patient. There are two ways to get Super Credits in Helldivers 2 without reaching for your wallet:
- In the War Bonds or Battle Passes (free and paid) through Medals, which are obtained in the same way as Super Credits.
- Looting Beacons, Half-Buried Containers and Bunkers. These are secondary areas scattered around the map. Beacons emit a small, flashing white pulse that can be seen in the distance. Containers are opened with a grenade or other explosive. Bunkers require two players to open. Hitting super credits is a matter of luck.
- The second method has an additional and optional first step, but ensures that you have all secondary locations on the minimap. You must choose difficulty 3 or 4 and Search for the Radar Antenna (visible from afar), which reveals all locations on the minimap with a diamond icon. If no credits appear, at least you get medals and samples.
