Steam: A Completely WTF Adaptation of This Cult Film Is Coming

Surprise! Gamescom 2024 was the occasion to discover on Steam a brand new game from a rather cult license. We tell you everything you need to know.

At Gamescom 2024, an unexpected announcement caught the attention of video game and science fiction fans. Mars Attracts, a park management game set in the universe of the Mars Attack movie, has appeared on Steam. Developed by independent studio Outlier, this astonishing title offers a completely new approach to the famous license.

Mars Attack in video game, everything is possible on Steam

What is most surprising is the use of the license Mars Attacks in such an original setting. Rather than focusing on the classic alien invasions and mass destruction, Mars Attractions on Steam puts you in control of a Martian theme park. Far from the explosive action of movies and comics, the game focuses on managing and operating a park. But with a twist: you use advanced technology to abduct humans from different eras of history.

Players will not only have to design suitable habitats for their captives, but also keep them happy, or, true to the offbeat spirit of Mars Attacks, subject them to bizarre experiments. Human escape attempts will add spice to the management of the park, forcing players to find solutions to prevent their captives from spreading terror among the Martian visitors.

Outlier seems to be inspired by the great classics of the genre, such as Roller Coaster Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon. Mars Attracts offers in-depth management where players must not only build spectacular attractions on the red planet, but also manage finances and ensure visitor satisfaction. The game promises to offer a balance between creative construction, strategic management and dark humor, characteristic of the Mars Attacks universe.

Scheduled for an Early Access release on Steam in 2025, Mars Attracts offers a unique proposition that could well appeal to both management game fans and sci-fi fans. A totally unexpected fusion that you can find here.
