Big N held its Nintendo Direct accompanied by an Indie World. A highly anticipated speech but it’s a cold shower for Nintendo Switch players.
It was a particularly anticipated speech. After many rumors, Big N announced the holding of a Nintendo Direct preceded by an Indie World. The Japanese publisher had immediately tempered expectations: no Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, nor in-house productions. The result is a conference below expectations despite everything, with a slew of ports, remasters and compilations of all kinds. After a notable absence at Gamescom 2024, Big N decided to communicate about the games that will accompany the Nintendo Switch at the end of its cycle. As expected, Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong stayed home to leave the spotlight on independent titles and partner productions. So there were no sensational announcements during this Nintendo Direct, but a few new games were presented. Starting with Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land, the new episode of the franchise that promises to be darker than the other entries. The cauldron will have to be brought out again in early 2025. As for the must-have sagas from Japan, the Yakuza franchise will finally arrive on Nintendo Switch on October 25, 2024, while Tales of Grace F Remaster will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the license on January 17, 2025.
Civilization 7 also showed off its gameplay on Nintendo Switch, Dragon Quest 3 Remake revealed its new playable class, and the My Sims collection became official after a few unfortunate leaks. On the independent side, Balatro will launch its collaboration with The Witcher 3 and a few other productions today. The excellent Sea of Stars unveiled its two upcoming free DLCs, while Neva, the new game from the creators of GRIS, set its release for October 15, 2024. LEGO Horizon Adventures did make a brief appearance during this Nintendo Direct, but its launch date was not made official. As a reminder, Sony inadvertently let the cat out of the bag. Aloy would be coming to Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2024.
