With no less than 1000 Korogus to find throughout Hyrule, the developers of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom have obviously only imagined a few different types of tests. There are therefore about ten puzzles that will allow you to find the precious nuts in order to expand your inventory. For each of the puzzles, we describe below what to do. Don’t forget that the interactive map allows you to see the position of each Korogu in the game.
And before you start, equip yourself with the Korogu Mask as soon as possible: this will greatly help you to know if one of these creatures is hiding in the vicinity.
The Korogu Friend
Exclusively present in TotK, this test asks you to help a Korogu (already visible) to join his friend a few meters further. In most cases, you must then use the different materials made available (wooden planks, propellers and other wagons) in order to make a vehicle that allows you to gather the two little friends. You can use Grasp directly on the Korogu, but often you have to cross water (or even lava) or ravines.
The Korogu Stone Circle
In this test, you will see that there is one stone missing from the circle for it to be complete. Use Grip to easily spot a stone in the vicinity then carry it to the location of the hole to free the Korogu.
The Korogu Offering
Much like the cherry blossoms of Hyrule, you will sometimes find trees and other places with two or more other altars. Some are filled with apples for example, and others are not. Your goal is to fill all the altars to make a full offering in order to bring out the greedy Korogu.
The Dandelion Korogu
When you see a big dandelion planted somewhere, it means that a Korogu is hiding there. You must hit the dandelionwith any weapon, so that a seed escapes. Your objective now is to catch the seed (by pressing A “examine”) before it hits the ground.
The Korogu Three-pronged pole
When you see a sort of pole with three branches, it means that a Korok is waiting to be found. Use Grip to easily find a big stone in the surrounding area. You have to carry it to put it on the three branches so that it balances.
The Korogu Tetris
This is a real puzzle that you have to complete. There is no pattern to follow but it is a simple question of arrangement: you have to grab the missing piece (located in the area) with Grip and turn it in the right direction so that it fits correctly into the structure. Often, it is just a matter of reforming a square for example.
The Korogu Cork
Probably one of the most difficult tests: When you see a tree stump with a plug and a chain hanging from it, your goal is to pretend you’re trying to remove the water from your bathtub by pulling on the plug. Locate different materials around you (a large rock, a tree trunk, or water artifacts) and use them to to counterbalance so that the cork comes out by itself. Sometimes you have to pull it from the top.
The Korogu Pebble
Whether it’s at the top of a tree or simply placed on the ground, in a strategic location, you will sometimes see a single stone that you just have to lift by pressing A or with the Grip power. A Korogu will immediately come out of its hiding place.
The Korogu Leaves
When you see some white and green leaves fluttering around a tree, pond, or just above the grass, approach them and press A “examine” to make the Korok appear.
The Korogu Infiltration
Here is yet another TotK test. When you see a wooden circle with three leaf symbols, it is most certainly high up and you must use the Infiltration power to pass right through it. When you come out, the Korogu will speak to you.
The Flower Korok
Often in watering holes you can see a big yellow flower. Simply step on it to make it move a few meters away. Step on the yellow flower until it turns white, meaning the end of the trial and the appearance of the Korogu.
The Korogu Targets
Sometimes you’ll see a simple target that has no business being in your field of vision: shoot an arrow at it to explode it and free the Korogu. Other times, the test will only begin from a sort of wind spinner: balloons will appear and you will have to burst them all.
The Korogu Pot
Hanging from trees or other buildings, you must break the pot for a Korogu to come out. You can use a ranged arrow or any weapon if the pot is within range.
The Korogu Flight Race
A wooden circle on the ground with a big leaf symbol? Step on it to start a flying test! Your goal is to go through the white hoop before the timer runs out. Sometimes you have to land on a target without hitting anything else.
