In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, the ruby is not the only means of payment that Link has in his possession to be able to buy himself beautiful clothes and other resources useful for his adventure. If you want to do some shopping, here are 10 currencies that you will inevitably come across.

And before we start, here are some fixed trades you can make at any time:

  • 1 bottle of fresh milk given to Naye in the Village of Elimith = 1 Cheese
  • Materials requested by the Great Fairies = improve your outfits

The rubies

This is of course the main currency of the game and the Zelda franchise. Rubies will be used to buy all sorts of ingredients for cooking, useful resources like arrows or bombs, but also mandatory outfits for traveling in hot or cold lands for example.

This time, Link will be able to obtain rubies in different ways: by chasing blue rabbits, by selling rare resources like raw diamonds or by fighting the Yigas. Find all the techniques to obtain a maximum of money below. Be careful, however, the duplication glitch has been fixed with update 1.1.2. There is a new one that is much more complex to master.

The spirits

Now let’s go to the Depths. A bit like in the Stranger Things series, it is a mirror world on the Surface of Hyrule (you will see for example that the sanctuaries always correspond to a root and that the name is simply upside down). In the bowels of this fictional Earth, you will find Spirits everywhere on your path. It will take a while before you understand what this is for.

Only once you have unlocked the Genie Statues will you be able to use Spirits to purchase unique resources like the Cluster of Darkness or the Dark Link Outfit.

The Glimmers of Charity

Each time you complete a Sanctuary, you will get a Glimmer of Benevolence. When you have 4 of them on you, it is then possible to buy a new one heart receptacle or 1/4 stamina gauge from a Goddess Statue. You can find one in every village and one in your survival shelter at Fort Watch.

Wise men’s wishes

Still to be exchanged at the Goddess Statues, you will have to find about twenty chests, in the celestial archipelagos, containing Wise Vows. These are very difficult to find and will sometimes require you to fight King Griock! But it is worth it since you will then be able to improve the Oaths of Babil, Yunobo, Riju and Sidon so that they are stronger in combat.

The Crystals of Elusis

Blue frogs that drop crystals when you touch them? They are in every cave in the game. Impossible to sell, these Elusis crystals will be useful for one thing only: buying rare goods from Koltin! In his balloon, wanting at all costs to transform into Satori, he will offer you the Spirit Outfit for example and some monster materials.

Korogu Nuts

Yes, each of the Korogu that you find on the maps of Hyrule will offer you a nut that can then be exchanged for something very important: additional slots for your inventory. If you are tired of not being able to pick up a sword, shield and bow on the ground, consider helping the “Korogu friends” that you will meet on the way and solving all the puzzles during your exploration. Note that the Korogu Mask will also be very useful to you.

Sonium

When you explore certain caves of the Heavens but especially the Depths, you will regularly come across ores to break with a stony mallet (or other). You will then receive precious pieces of Sonium that can be refined by a Golem. This exchange will allow you to obtain energy crystals.

Energy Crystals

Now that you have energy crystals, you will need some 100 to exchange them for an upgrade (a bar) of your battery. A crucial step that you should take fairly early in the adventure if you don’t want to be bothered with vehicles that only last a few seconds. And to double your battery, don’t hesitate to get the Sonium Outfit.

Golem Materials

Need some Soneaus artifacts? You’ll have to eliminate a few golems (especially in the Sky) to obtain their resources. With these few horns, you can then give them to the round machines (gachapon) that you come across in the celestial archipelagos, to receive random artifacts like the Pourer, the Turbine or even a Spring. Make sure you have a large quantity on you if you want to use the Duplicate power.

Relay points

This is a currency that you should not neglect either! Every time you visit a relay, spend a night there or register a new horse, you get a relay point. You can then exchange them for rewards at the counter and in particular obtain fabrics for your paraglider, a horse harness or even a -50% discount on nights spent in the relay in question.

Recipes for Marlon

Finally, let’s stay on the horses’ side: if you want to greatly improve their stats, you’re going to have to give Marlon, the equine goddess, the dishes she asks for. Our complete list of recipes below should help you do just that.
