Thanks to the shield surfing technique, you will be able to duplicate rare resources, such as rough diamonds for example, in bulk and obtain a crazy amount of rubies! Here is how to easily use the duplication glitch in Zelda TotK.

While many fans thought that the duplication glitch was going to be removed with the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom update 1.1.1, it has finally made it even easier to use. We of course do not know until when Nintendo will allow such a practice on its flagship game but, in the meantime, here is a short and simple explanation to be found in video below or in written and illustrated version below.

This glitch will allow you to obtain rubies easily, by reselling your rare resources, but also to duplicate your monster materials to craft the best weapons with Amalgam.

Step one: learn how to surf with your shield!

Whether it’s the duplication glitch or not, knowing how to surf on your shield will allow you to explore Hyrule much faster and in style. Here’s how to do it:

1. Equip yourself with the shield of your choice,
2. Pull it out with the ZL button on your left stick and hold it up,
3. At the same time, press X to jump then A to start surfing,
4. Combo: ZL + X + A

Step Two: Surf to Duplicate

Now that you know how to surf on your shield, you don’t need much else to learn how to duplicate items. This of course involves already having at least one copy of the item in question in your inventory.

• Use ZL + X + A to surf the shield,
• New subtlety: at the same time, press the “+” (start) button to open your inventory when Link is in the air on his shield,
• So we must do ZL + X + A + “+”
• Once in the inventory, first choose a resource that you only have once (x1) and click on “take”,
• Then choose the item you want to duplicate (a rough diamond for example) and also click on “take”,
• Attention : this item must be located below of the first object, in the list, for this to work. Also, the duplicated object must be at the end of inventory and that nothing is to its right at the risk of losing the objects in question.
• To put an item at the end of inventory: take all items of this type (diamond for example) and place them on the ground. By picking them up again, they will arrive at the end of inventory.
• Take up to 4 times the same item to optimize duplication (this works even if you only take one),
• Then press B (back) and you will see your items on the ground. These are actually new items that, when picked up, will be added to your basic stock.

Note : To avoid losing the object you used for duplication, you must sort your objects by type after each new duplication attempt.
