Labyrinth of South Edal Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to complete it?

It’s hard to miss the presence of mazes on the map of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, as well as in its skies. It’s an expansion of the trials already present in Breath of the Wild, but instead of a standalone labyrinth each time, there are three linked mazes that await you: one on the surface, one in the skies, and one in the depths. It can be intimidating when you don’t know where to start.

Earth Labyrinth – South Edal Abyss

The first step is to travel to the surface entrance to the labyrinth, the South Edal Abyss, in the Gerudo Heights. The other two are currently inaccessible. The area is located south of the Gerudo Canyon Scout Tower. A stele and a camp with a journal mark the entrance to the area.

It is possible to land directly in the labyrinth, either by descending from the sky islands, or by using a vehicle, but it is not recommended. You may become disoriented, and in our case, the landing was greeted by miasma hands. It is probably wiser to explore the area normally.

The solution is simple. Just follow the trail of acorns and other seeds left on the ground by the previous labyrinth explorer. If you get lost, just look for a new acorn, or a camp. You’ll have to walk through the miasma at times, but it’s nothing too bad. Here’s the route to follow, from the stele at the entrance:

  1. Take the first path on the right.
  2. Turn left.
  3. Turn left when you reach the makeshift camp, then left again, going up a small staircase.
  4. Take the second exit on the right, then right again.
  5. Take the last exit on the left, at the end of the corridor, then left twice, then right twice. You will go up a small staircase.
  6. Turn left, then right immediately after the stairs.
  7. Climb up the pile of sand, then go to the end of the corridor, before turning right.
  8. Then take a left twice, then a right, after a sand mound, you will see a new camp.
  9. Continue straight past the camp, then left, up the stairs. You’ll have to jump down.
  10. Go straight, this will take you to a bend full of miasmas.
  11. Go straight, until you have to turn left.
  12. Finally, turn right at the acorn, then left, with the last camp and the Sanctuary, after jumping down.
  13. Use the circular relic on the right, in order to activate the celestial labyrinth. There is also a Shrine on the left of the room, which you can complete simply by entering.

You can exit the area by using Ceiling Infiltration, or by teleporting. If you plan on doing the next part directly, choose Gerudo Canyon Tower as your destination.

Celestial Labyrinth – South Edal Castle

There are probably other ways to reach the place, but we chose to use the sky island closest to the Gerudo Canyon Tower, in order to cobble together a glider with rockets and turbines. It’s best to have a good battery, or some energy spheres in stock, to make the trip.

As you approach the maze, you will discover that a special effect is affecting the area. Falls are slower, and flying in a Paraglider is easy thanks to the updrafts. Land at the entrance to the maze, to activate the switch, and complete the nearby Siya Motusi Shrine, which will also serve as a fast travel point.

Proposing a walkthrough of the celestial labyrinth is difficult, since it is a complex area, with a progression in three dimensions. However, it is not difficult to complete, when you are aware of the few rules that govern the place, and the tricks to exploit:

  • The four terminals to activate are in the center of the 4 blocks of the maze. You will often see them through the grids.
  • Each block is more or less independent, you can travel between them using the sort of large corridor at the edge of the maze. When you have lit a terminal, try to reach the outer wall, then go along it.
  • Think in three dimensions, if you can’t find a passage at your current altitude, look to go down, or, on the contrary, to go up. This is especially true for terminals. Walk around the block one or more times, looking above you, then below.until you find an access. The one in the first block on the left requires you to go through the bottom, then use Infiltration. The one on the right block, on the contrary, requires going through a passage, almost at the top.
  • There are chests scattered throughout the maze, with soneau weapons.
  • Don’t be afraid to kill yourself: the winds, the preservation of stamina and the slowness of the falls make it almost impossible to hurt yourself. You just have to explore methodically and patiently.
  • Once all four terminals are activated, the central terminal above the maze will activate, and the upwinds will strengthen. You simply need to deploy your Paraglider to fly above the area.

Land, open the chest, then activate the terminal, which will open access to the last labyrinth, that of the Depths.

Labyrinth of the Deep – Ancient Castle of South Edal

At least reaching the last maze is simple. You just have to jump from the diving board of the celestial labyrinththen accelerate your fall into the depths. Remember to adjust your trajectory, however, so as not to hit the edges.

When you are plunged into darkness, and a red light can be seen, deploy your Parasail, so as not to crash into the grid on the ground.

This last maze is not really one, the structure of the place is simple, a boss awaits you at the lower level, an Ultimate Golemax. At this point in the game, this should not normally be a very difficult fight for you, by making good use of the Grip to tear off its vulnerable cube. The structure of the area will also greatly hinder it. It is also possible to snipe it with the bow from the corridor, without putting yourself in too much danger.

If you are short on equipment, search the side corridors and the alcoves above, which are full of chests with very powerful soneau weapons, which will make the fight even more trivial. Please note that this maze is different, you can climb walls. This makes them easy to access.

Reward

After beating the boss, a chest will appear. It contains the helmet from a high-level gear set: the Spectral Mask. It is similar to the Stealth Outfit and the Yiga Outfit, but with much more base defense. If you take the time to upgrade it, it is one of the best armors in the game.

The labyrinth’s gates will also open, allowing you to reach the rest of the depths. Be aware that the nearest root is hidden on the roof of the building. Climb the walls to reach it.
