It was in July 2016 that Pokémon GO was released on mobile devices, making millions of players want to go out into the streets to catch every pocket monster. Today, the famous Niantic app is celebrating its 8th anniversary and is offering you a free event (with paid studies) to make the most of it. Here’s what you need to know.

- Event Dates: Friday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 8:00 p.m.
- New Pokémon : Tadmorv wearing a party hat and Grotadmorv wearing a party hat
- Pikachu in costume with cake on his head,
- Eevee, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle with party hat,
- Shiny Meltan returns if you open a mystery box during the event,
- Free one-off study available,
- Paid study (2 euros) available
- Paid master study (5 euros) “Whisper in the Woods”
The bonuses
- Increased probability of becoming Lucky Friends.
- Increased chance of obtaining Lucky Pokémon when trading.
- Increase Friendship Levels faster by opening Gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling as a team in Raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles.
- Probability of finding 8 or 88 Mordudor Coins (or more!) by spinning a PokéStop’s Photo Disc with a Golden Lure Module.
- From June 28th at 10:00 a.m. to June 29th at 11:59 p.m. only: Egg hatching distance halved when Eggs are placed in Incubators during these two days
- From June 30th at midnight to July 1st at 11:59 p.m. only: Double XP for catching Pokémon
