One of the questlines cut from Elden Ring before its release was related to Saint Trina. Shadow of the Erdtree finally allows you to meet this mysterious character, but communicating with Saint Trina will not be easy, it will be deadly.
Where to find Saint Trina?
To reach Saint Trina, the first step is to trigger the destruction of Miquella’s Major Rune, with its enchantment, and the seal he placed at the entrance to the dungeon in which it is located. To do this, simply approach the Black Castle, north of Altus Occulte, or advance on the road to the East, leading to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. A double message will then appear on the screen. It is advisable to go and speak to Thiollier, so that he begins his journey to the south, his quest being closely linked to that of Saint Trina.
The next step is to follow our route to reach the South Coast Map Fragment, then the dungeon Cracked stone coffins. It is possible to get there before completing the previous step, but a yellow force field will block your passage.
Cross the dungeon until you reach a giant stone coffin on which there are dozens of animals. You will then have to jump into the void, in order to land in the arena of the boss Putrid Knight. You can interact with a Golden summoning mark on the ground, that of Thiollier.
You don’t have to summon him during this fight to continue his quests. It’s up to you to decide whether the helping hand is appreciated or not. Since he is summoned directly in the arena, the boss’s health is not increased. So it’s a net benefit, in almost all cases.
After winning, you will gain access to a new Faded Grace site, as well as the Purple Water Lily Garden, in which Saint Trina is located.
Nectar of Saint Trina
After defeating this bizarre boss, advance into the cave to discover Thiollier on the ground, as well as Saint Trina herself, although she looks more like a flower than a human being. Talk to Thiollier several times, then talk to Saint Trina. She doesn’t say anything, but you have the option to drink her soporific nectar. The answer to your question is “Yes“drink the nectar, but know that your character will perish instantly. It’s okay, unless you activated your Major Rune with a Rune Bow. Collect your runes, talk to Saint Trina again, then, drink the Nectar again.
Repeat this several times, which will kill you each time. You should do this about 4-5 times. You will eventually hear Saint Trina’s words during the fade to black. She will ask you to kill Miquella, since the deity would be a prison for him.
Now is the time to talk to Thiollier, and give him the message of Saint Trina. He will threaten you, but you must still choose to repeat the words of Saint Trina. Make sure you have heard the entirety of Saint Trina’s message. The ability to repeat the words to him does not appear until you have died a sufficient number of times.
Saint Trina Smile Talisman
Go rest at the nearby Grace Site. After waiting a bit, the fight will then begin with Thiollier, in the main cavern. By defeating him, you will receive the Saint Trina Smile talismanwhich boosts the attack when a sleep effect is active nearby. For his part, Thiollier is not dead, he will sleep on the ground for a while.
Boss Leda and her allies
Thiollier no longer has any role to play in the story until near the very end, and the same goes for Saint Trina. After defeating Messmer and opening the Tower of Shadows after defeating Romina, Leda will realize that you were never an ally of Miquella, on the contrary. A formidable fight awaits you, with Leda, Dane and all the other companions by default on one side, which makes it absolutely brutal by default. But by completing the companions’ quests, you can rally them to your cause in certain cases. In this case, you can choose to interact with Thiollier’s Golden Mark on the ground, before the fight, in order to obtain his welcome assistance against Leda.
If you have not drunk enough Nectar, or have not passed on the words of Saint Trina to Thiollier, his mark will be missing. He will also not be with your opponents. After defeating Leda, Thiollier will disappear from Saint Trina’s cavern, and his equipment will also be lost.
Radahn, future consort
If you summoned Thiollier during the fight against Leda, he will be physically present in the room afterwards. You will be able to talk to him, and his golden mark will be present in front of the room of the final boss, Radahn, future consort. There is no need to summon him during the fight, he would be more of a penalty than a bonus anyway, since the boss’s life increases with each summon. Once the final boss is defeated, you will be able to find Thiollier’s body in the area, with his equipment.
Flower of Saint Trina
After your victory, return to Saint Trina’s cave to discover her corpse. Her quest is over, and she left an item, a flower-shaped helmet, which increases maximum CP. Its defensive values are nevertheless laughable, or even downright negative for piercing damage.
It is difficult to be certain of the reasons for Saint Trina’s death. The most likely hypothesis is that she was still linked to Miquella, and that his death led to the death of Saint Trina as well. The second possibility is simply that Saint Trina was truly like the flower she embodies. She was destined to bloom for a moment, before fading and dying shortly after.
