The Candies L were introduced in Pokémon GO in order to increase the stats of those above level 40, taking the place of standard Candies. They are now accessible from level 31and there are several ways to get them.
How to get L Candies?
- The most classic method is to capture Pokémon : Catching a Pokémon normally grants one to three L Candies. If players need a specific type of candy, they will need to catch specific Pokémon (a Bulbasaur will give a candy that is reserved for it and its evolutions). An evolution at Stage 1 will earn you between 1 and 4 Candiesan evolution in Stage 2 will earn you between 2 and 5 Candiesand a Pokémon Legendary or Fabulous will guarantee you a drop of 3 to 6 Candies.
- You can also hatch an egg 2 km, which will earn you up to 8 Candies, a 5 or 7 km, which will earn you up to 16 Candies, or hatch a 10 or 12 km egg for up to 24 Candies. The higher the CP of the Pokémon accompanying you, the more L Candies are likely to drop.
- The third method is to transfer a Pokémon to Professor Willowwhich gives you a chance to receive x1 L candy.
- You will have a chance to drop a candy L when you trade a Pokemon : The further away the traded Pokémon was caught, the more likely you are to get an L Candy.
- Walking with a Buddy Pokémon gives a chance to receive L Candies depending on distance.
- You can also convert 100 Regular Candies for 1 L Candy.
- Finally, you can also receive L Candies during one-off events.
How to use L Candies
To increase the level of a Pokémon with an L Candy, simply enter the menu of the Pokémon in question: the quantity of L Candy available for this Pokémon will be displayed.
You just have to select “Reload” to use the item. Remember that it will also take a certain amount of Stardust to raise the Pokémon’s CP. Evolving a Pokémon from level 40 to level 50 will cost you Stardust and 296 Candy L.
