Aptos Foundation Partners with Alibaba Cloud to Foster Japan’s Web3 Ecosystem

In a significant development in the growth and adoption of digital assets in the Asia region, Aptos Foundation has announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud, the digital and intelligence technology pillar of Alibaba Group.

This partnership aims to expand Japan’s Web3 ecosystem and improve regional accessibility, marking a major milestone in the development of Asia’s Web3 landscape.

Aptos Foundation and Alibaba Cloud launched Alcove

As already Notification on Friday, the partnership aims to launch Alcove – the first co-branded Move developer community in Asia that seeks to drive innovation and increase digital accessibility across the region area.

Alcove’s main goal is to amplify the impact and popularity of the Move smart contract programming language among developers. Move leverages the security, speed, and scalability of Aptos. Therefore, this partnership aims to promote widespread adoption of digital assets in the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the Foundation, Japan has a regulatory framework and a “tech-savvy population” that is uniquely positioned to promote the benefits of Web3 and digital assets globally.

Additionally, to accelerate on-chain development, the Aptos Foundation is leading a series of initiatives through Alcove.

The first of these initiatives is the Move developer meetup co-hosted by OKCoin Japan and Alibaba Cloud to provide developers and equip them with the tools and knowledge to Realize real-world use cases.

Web3 development and innovation

The announcement also revealed that Aptos Foundation will host a series of hackathons for the Alcove community using technology provided by Alibaba Cloud.

These hackathons are designed to nurture emerging talent in the Web3 space, allowing participants to learn from industry leaders and inspire the next generation of Web3 developers and innovators.

Bashar Lazaar, Director of Grantmaking and Ecosystem at Aptos Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating:

Overall, this partnership between Aptos Foundation and Alibaba Cloud represents an important step toward enhancing Japan’s role in the global Web3 landscape.
