As if there weren’t enough armor pieces in the base game, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree adds a total of 150 new items in this category, divided between the 5 slots. That’s almost 30 new armor sets, although that’s not an exact number, since there are a number of standalone helmets, with very special stats. We’ve only selected full sets in this article.
Armor of Solitude
Players looking to jump into the DLC as soon as possible are greeted by one of the most faithful copies of Guts that FromSoftware has made, and by its excellent armor. Its defensive characteristics are excellent, although it is also very heavy, with a physical absorption of 41, for a weight of 57.1. This is exactly what you need to survive more than two or three hits, as long as you don’t forget your Splinters of the Occult Tree. The Focus bonus is also titanic, at 235, which makes it the best armor to take on Midra, the Lord of the Exalted Flame, since it helps you not to give in to Madness. Finally, this armor really does look very classy.
Obtaining : Kill the Knight of the Black Jail, in the Mausoleum located a little north of the starting point of the DLC, in the Sepulchral Plain.
Death Knight Armor
This medium armor has decent defensive stats, with 27.2 physical mitigation for a weight of 25.9. It will be remembered mainly for its relatively high resistance to lightning (27) and for its look. Some builds will probably be interested in this set, since each piece increases the damage of Incantations and Elder Dragon Cult Skills by 2% per piece of armor, for a total of 8%. Unfortunately, this only concerns a small part of the spells. To briefly summarize, all the incantations casting yellow lightning, like the Knight’s Lightning Lance from the DLC.
Obtaining : In the Blacklight Catacombs, you must jump to a bridge below instead of taking the normal path. You will discover the set on the body of a Death Knight. Check out the Abyssal Woods route to find out how to reach this extremely isolated dungeon.
Rakshasa Armor
This is hands down the most popular armor in the DLC, especially with the Sparking Surge builds and other attack-heavy builds. There’s no doubt that it’ll be popular with players looking to perform a no-hit run. In fact, every piece in the set increases all damage by 2%, for a total of 8%. Even for the rest of the players, this is an interesting set, despite the message warning that the damage taken will also be increased. In reality, it seems that this is directly applied to the defensive values of the armor, which are a bit lower than those of other armors of the same weight category. It is still quite reasonable, however, with a physical mitigation of 21.3, for a weight of 30.5. Consider that you are wearing light armor, with the weight of medium armor.
Obtaining : In the same location as the Great Rakshasa Katana, in the Nameless Mausoleum. It is a micro dungeon located near the route taken to reach the Black Light Catacombs and the Abyssal Woods.
Verdigris Armor
This is undoubtedly the best armor of the DLC, from a purely defensive point of view. It’s a bit like the return of the Havel set, minus the class, which is always a shame. On the other hand, it remains much more visually neutral than all the other super heavy armors. Its statistics compete with the Mouflon set, being a bit lighter, and with a different distribution, with a physical absorption of 45 for a weight of 61.6.
Obtaining : You have 3 chances to get it, since it is recovered from Moore’s corpse. You can kill the members of his gathering swarm, in order to push him to invade you, or you can tell him to stay sad forever, when the opportunity arises. In the worst case, it will be one of your opponents during the boss Leda and her allies.
