While the lightsaber is clearly not a weapon you’ll be able to opt for in Star Wars Outlaws, know that Kay Vess can still manipulate things other than her blaster. This is certainly his main weapon that you can upgrade, but sometimes during fights it is better to drop it and grab another piece of equipment available on the ground or on enemies. Note that this is temporary: as soon as you cling to a wall, climb a ladder or fall, you will lose the weapon and return to the blaster.
In addition to your basic grenades and the various shots from your blaster, you have a choice of four types of weapons to pick up (the best is to send Nix to get them for you):
- Sniper rifles
- Assault rifles
- The Blasters
- Grenade launchers and heavy weapons
Heavy weapons are best?
“Explosive” or “Heavy” type weapons are clearly the best to help you in combat. Explosive damage weapons (grenade launcher for example) allow for one-hit kills, while the minigun has a shield that can make you a tank in a crowd of enemies. So whenever you can, use these types of weapons.
Be careful though, you must unlock the skill dedicated to heavy weapons in the Expert talent tree “The Mercenary” (Tatooine) to be able to use this type of weapon.
What to do with the other weapons?
Snipers are far too situational in truth and not very useful in most cases: either because the weapon will fall as soon as you want to position yourself at a higher place or because the alarm will be triggered as soon as you kill an enemy with other opponents at his side. In short, use sparingly even if it can sometimes unlock situations.
Blasters, on the other hand, are a good choice at the beginning of the adventure or at least to take no matter what if that’s all you have on hand: they will be better than your own weapon anyway.
