Black Myth: Wukong is far from linear after Chapter 1. Chapters 2 and 3 are full of twists and turns and secrets to discover. One of the most unfathomable at first is the Great Pagoda. Without knowing exactly what it’s about, you can literally bang your head against the walls for hours, for nothing.
Where to find the Great Pagoda?
If you already know what to do in the Great Pagoda, but you don’t know where it is, here is more information about it. You can find it in Chapter 3, after exiting the Prison Pagoda.
Its altar is located between that of the Snow Veil Trailand the Protective templein which the old Chinese master and the Macaque Chief await you.
In this large, relatively open area, go to the back left. This will require you to get through many groups of enemies. You can use an interactive map to better visualize the path to follow.
When you arrive in the area, you will see a sort of misty portal, surrounded by two statues. All you have to do is enter.
What to do in the Great Pagoda?
If your first visit is during Chapter 3, the only thing to do is activate the Guardian’s Altar before leaving. Indeed, the Great Pagoda is of no interest before the chapter 6 and only if you meet all the required criteria to face the hidden final boss and the true ending.
Here is a list of prerequisites:
- Chapter 1: Ring the 3 bells and defeat Elder Jinchi.
- Chapter 2: Complete the Warthog quest, then defeat Fuban.
- Chapter 3: Complete the Treasure Hunter quest. Make sure to complete it during Chapter 3, it is no longer accessible after that.
- Chapter 4: Defeat Venom Daoist twice to gain access to Purple Cloud Mountain, before defeating Twilight Veil.
- Chapter 5: Complete the Bull quest, before defeating the Golden-Eyed Beast Bushui.
Reach Chapter 6.
Once you have met all these conditions, all you have to do is approach the back wall, in order to trigger a cutscene. The Predestined will be absorbed by the wall, and the most difficult fight of the game awaits him against Erlang.
