It’s fair to say that Black Myth: Wukong puts a lot of effort into introducing the final boss. Your entire adventure was actually built around that. Chapter 6 even forces you to get the best weapon, as well as the best armor pieces in the game, in order to improve your chances of winning this tough fight.
After defeating the Stone Monkey, an even more formidable foe awaits, the past incarnation of Sun Wukong himself. Fortunately, both bosses are counted as separate fights.
Preparations
If you’re stuck on this boss, the best thing to do is obviously to increase your character’s power. Finding all the meditation locations, obtaining the supreme gourd and fulfilling all the prerequisites for the secret ending are good ways. Going after all the bosses in the game will naturally increase your power, especially by using the components obtained, in order to craft Heavenly Pills at the house of Chien Xu. The most important ones are those that increase maximum life. Getting all 5 Skandhas will also help you improve your stats.
- You should also buy as many components and materials as possible from NPC shops and Altars, in order to craft as many Pills and remedies as possible. Some recipes will completely change the game, like the one that will allows you to come back to life in combat. Another one also allows you to heal yourself completely in an instant.
- The various pills that allow you to greatly increase your characteristics over a long period of time are also recommended: life, mana, endurance, damage reduction, damage inflicted, critical hit chances.
- Finally, some remedies allow you to regenerate Power in mid-battle. This allows you to use the Transformation multiple times again. Each time, it’s an extra life bar, with the opportunity to deal damage without taking any risks.
- If that wasn’t clear enough, you can consume remedies put in shortcuts, or from the inventory, even in combat.
- Consider adapting your Trinkets to this specific fight. You do not need any Experience or Willpower bonuses in this case.
- Also optimize the‘Infusion and additives in your gourd. The additive giving a chance to not consume a charge from the bottle is absolutely fantastic for example.
- The Artifact Embroidery needle is perfect for this fight, it allows you to inflict significant damage from a distance, without taking risks.
Strategy
The Great Sage’s Shattered Shell is very intimidating, and its attack combos are absolutely devastating. If you really can’t dodge them, you can try using the Stone Transformation spell. That being said, this boss is relatively passive, he won’t spend his time rushing at you, on the contrary. He tends to summon his Ring of Fire and wait inside. This gives you time to charge up a heavy thrusting attack, or to consume medicine. But be prepared for him to eventually use long-range attacks.
Use your cooldown abilities or those that are linked to a Qi/Power bar as often as possible, such as Spirit, Artifact and especially your Transformation. If you are having difficulty with this fight, it is better to try to kill the boss by attrition.
THE immobilization spell works extremely well on this boss. If you have 4 Focus points, this can be an opportunity to deal massive damage to him, without him having a chance to dodge.
Always be wary when facing the Great Sage in melee. His dodges spawn an explosive decoy, which will force you to dodge as well, to avoid damage. He will also turn into stone, if you hit him in this state a devastating scripted counterattack awaits you.
Once again, do not fight Sun Wukong in the Ring of Fire. It is better to move away and force him out. This is an opportunity to use your consumables.
A fun event the first time, but one that becomes frustrating later, is the paralysis when you try to heal yourself. The boss steals your canteen before healing himself. We managed to avoid this using the gourd while being far from the bossor when he uses another action, for example, when he starts a long combo with his stick. Of course, this requires being far away too, or measuring your timing well.
