By the end of 2022, the number of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency ATMs had dropped significantly, with the number worldwide dropping from 39,541 to 32,471 in July 2023. Currently, there are 38,279 cryptocurrency ATMs, indicating that 5,808 have been added in the past 11 months.
Some 2,564 cryptocurrency ATMs have been installed this year, with figures from coinatmradar.com showing increases every month except June. This month saw a drop of 115 cryptocurrency ATMs as 377 new machines were installed. To break the record in 2022, an estimated 1,262 more Bitcoin ATMs need to be installed.

The leading cryptocurrency ATM operators are Bitcoin Depot, Coinflip, and Athena Bitcoin. Bitcoin Depot operates 7,543 machines, Coinflip manages 5,057, and Athena oversees 2,756 ATMs. The United States has 82.7% of the world’s cryptocurrency ATMs, while Canada has 7.7%.
The global expansion of cryptocurrency ATMs reflects strong market demand for local financial services. Despite a slight decline in June, the installation of 377 ATMs shows continued growth. Major operators continue to expand their networks, playing an important role in the growth of the industry.
