Discover the new range of ARCTIC server CPU coolers

In the market we can find a large number of heatsink manufacturers, but not all of them offer us the same confidence that they can offer us. ARCTICa German company with more than 20 years in the market and which focuses its main activity on cooling systems for PCs and servers.

The wide range of server heatsinks ARCTIC seeks to cover all needs, from users who make the most of the power of all their equipment to those who seek the lowest possible noise. To the more than extensive catalog of CPU heatsinks, this manufacturer has just added two new models: Freezer 4U-SP5 and Frieza 4U-M Rev 2which are the ones we are going to show you now.

ARCTIC Freezer 4U-SP5, a heatsink for two processors

If we talk about the Freezer 4U-SP5 we are talking about a heatsink designed specifically for the range of EPYC processors of amd with the SP5 socket and which is responsible for controlling the temperature at all times of both servers and workstations. But its design, in the form of a turbine with a tower and two fans in an almost closed circuit, is especially surprising due to the fact that it is designed to be used in server motherboards. dual processorcooling both processors simultaneously.

FREEZER 4U-SP5 CPU heatsink

Just think that a single AMD EPYC processor already generates an incredible amount of heat, so imagine how good and efficient this new ARCTIC heatsink has to be to be able to cool two processors simultaneously without problems.

To do this, the heatsink mounts an immense block of aluminum sheets welded to a total of 10 heat pipes which, as you can see in the images, are separated into two areas to divide five of them for each of the processors. It is important that the aluminum sheets are welded to the heat pipes, because as you have also seen in the images, the Freezer 4U-SP5 has two fans in a push-pull configuration, one introducing air and the other removing it to create a turbine effect that significantly increases cooling efficiency.

These two fans are 120 mm in diameter, with double ball bearings and of course have PWM controlled operation. They are capable of operating from 300 to 3,300 rpm at speed, emitting a maximum of 40 dBA of noise, and have the particularity that they are designed for 24 x 7 operation for years, unlike most standard PC fans.

Finally, it should be noted that the ARCTIC Freezer 4U-SP5 is designed, as its name indicates, for 4U high servers, since due to its dimensions it would not fit in smaller servers (in addition, it weighs 1,512 grams no less). It has a 6-year warranty, by the way, which is standard for all ARCTIC products.

ARCTIC Freezer 4U-M REV. 2, maximum performance without compromise

This heatsink is not really a new one, but rather it is a revised version of the Freezer 4U-M, which is characterized by offering excellent performance in cooling tasks in both server processors. Intel Xeon as in the AMD EPYC. This model is also compatible with ARM series processors. Ampere Altra and Ampere Altra Max using a separate mounting kit available in the ARCTIC online store.

Specifically, the revised version of the Freezer 4U-M heatsink is compatible with sockets LGA 4189 and LGA 4677 from Intel and with SP6, sRT5, SP3 and TR4 from AMD. Like the Freezer 4U-SP5, this heatsink also incorporates 2 120 mm PWM fans that cool a block of tower-shaped aluminum sheets, soldered in this case to eight copper heat pipes. As you can see in the image, in this case the eight heat pipes go to the center, since it is designed for a single processor and not for two like the previous one.

CPU FREEZER 4U-M REV. 2

Being a heatsink for a single processor, it is somewhat smaller and lighter (1,275 grams) than the previous one, but it is still a monster with 8 heat pipes that in this case is designed to offer maximum performance without compromise. Its fans generate a maximum of 40 dBA of noise and move at a speed of between 400 and 2,300 rpm, controlled by PWM. It also has a 6-year warranty, like all products from this manufacturer.

He mounting kit To use this heatsink with the ARM Ampere Alta and Ampere Altra Max processors, it has dimensions of 160 mm long, 110 mm wide and 25 mm high with a total weight of 56 grams that we must add to that of the heatsink.
