Eggs and Hatching in Pokémon GO

In Pokémon GO, it is possible to have eggs just like in the console versions. These will be obtained in particular by going through Pokéstopsor by opening gifts of your friends.

To hatch an egg you must place it in a incubator. You will get an unlimited use incubator at the start of the game and then incubators that can be used only 3 times throughout the game (and in the shop). There are also super incubators (available in the shop) that allow you to hatch your eggs 2 times faster.

Click on the main menu and then on “Pokémon”. Then select an egg and “start incubation”.

There are currently four types of eggs. Their rarity varies the number of kilometers to be traveled to bring it to the hatching stage as follows: 2km (green); 5km (orange); 7km (pink); 10km (purple).

When an egg hatches, candy are then given at the same time as the Pokémon. The number of candies depends on the Pokémon’s stage of evolution: Snorlax for example will be obtained with more candies than Ptitard!

As we saw during the Pokémon GO test, hatching an egg is very long! A minimum of 2 km of walking to see a little Pokémon come out of its shell. But it is possible to speed up the process by traveling by bus for example!

Indeed, you just have to take a slow enough bus for the application to be fooled and allow the eggs to hatch quickly! During this time, you can continue to capture Pokémon or collect items from the different Pokéstops on your route.

Be careful though, after several tests, it was recognized that only walking in a straight line worked! Indeed, the GPS does not update every second and needs a certain amount of time to find where we are since our last recorded position.

From the diagram below, we can see that long turns are not necessarily counted, which is why doing 5 kilometers in a zigzag will only add 2 kilometers to your egg.
