There are at least two types of players in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: those who stick with the same build from start to finish, and those who use Larval Tears at Rennala to rebirth. If you’re the type to adapt your build to the bosses you encounter, or to experiment with a variety of playstyles, there’s no doubt that you’ll quickly run out of this precious component. Unless you’re going to play New Game Plus, they’re limited in the base game. The DLC adds a few more Larval Tears, which is always nice to have, but you still have to find them.
Night moon circles
The only sources of Larval Tears in the DLC are the Moon Circles that spawn in predefined locations, but only during the night. They are very easy to spot, as they glow with a pale light. It is possible to see them from several hundred meters away, or even from another area, if your field of vision is clear. As you approach, you will see an object in the middle of the circle, among the graves.
This is obviously one of the precious Larval Tears. The implications are clear, go to a site of vanished grace, and advance time to nightbefore going around the area. They don’t seem to respawn the following night, although the moon circle will still be present. These Larval Tears are a different color than the ones in the base game, but they are used in the same way, by talking to Rennala.
DLC Larval Tears Map
Here is a list of all the Moon Circles containing a Larval Tear in the Shadow Realm. As you can see, they are almost exclusive to the first two zones. There are 9 Larval Tears to Collect in total. Check out our Map Fragments guide, as well as the Routes to follow, to reach those in the more remote areas.
