The best way to gain power in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is to stack levels of Shadow Realm Blessings via Occult Tree Splinters, and to a lesser extent Revered Spirit Ashes. But conventional levels still have a very large impact, if you don’t have 60 Stamina yet, can’t equip heavy armor due to lack of Stamina, or have ambitions to score high in several main attributes, you’ll need millions of Runes.
Where to collect Runes quickly?
At the risk of disappointing you, there is a consensus on the subject, the fastest method of farming runes remains the Albinaurics of Mohgwyn’s Palace. This has the advantage of being a place to which you already have access, if you have started the DLC. Go to the Cornice overlooking the palacethen commit a heinous genocide, in order to satisfy your thirst for power.
How to optimize your Runes farm?
As a reminder, in order to significantly speed up the speed at which you kill enemies at the indicated location, while increasing the amount of runes collected, you must use the following items. Inferior alternatives exist, if you do not have all of these items, or your build is not compatible.
Sacred Relic Blade : Obtained by exchanging the Elden Beast’s memory. Its unique skill unleashes a gigantic holy wave that will obliterate all enemies in the area in record time. It allows you to kill dozens of enemies in one action before returning to the grace site to make them respawn. Its major drawback is that you need 24 Dexterity and 22 Faith to use it. Consider a Rebirth with Rennala.
The rest of the gear is geared towards optimizing the damage of the lightwave. Also consider upgrading the weapon up to +10 with Dark Forge Stones.

Consumables
You can further optimize your rune farming with the following items:
- Chicken leg in golden brine : +20% runes, its effect is multiplicative with the Golden Scarab, which gives a bonus of +56%.
- Fragile golden horn : +40% Runes for 3 minutes. Its effect stacks with that of the talisman, for a total of 68%, but not with that of the Poultry Leg.
If you are unable to kill the enemies in one area attack, exchange the Crystal Tears in your Vial of Miraculous Salvation. Use the Cracked tear veiled with consecration increasing holy damage, and if you have it, the Blood-Drinking Cracked Tear.
