These crosses between horses and birds have been with us for decades, and it was obvious that they could not be missing in Final Fantasy XIV. In fact, you can ride one, and they are our introduction to the wonderful world of mounts. If You are starting your adventure In this MMO, I tell you everything you need to do to get your own chocobo.
How to get a chocobo in Final Fantasy XIV
You should know that you cannot get a chocobo right from the start of the game, but you will soon have this opportunity. You need to have reached level 20 of the story (i.e. do not look at the level of your character, but at the level of the quests you get). Once you defeat Ifrityour next goal will be to join one of the Grand Company of the game through the missions The Company You Keep (Maelstrom), The Company You Keep (Immortal Flames) or The Company You Keep (Twin Adder).
You choose which one you want, they only differ in where they are based (Limsa Lominsa, Ul’dah and New Gridania respectively). This is the first step to getting your chocobo, and you can’t skip it accidentally. After this, your next story quest will be one of the following: Sea Swallows All, (Maelstrom), Till or For Coin and Country (Immortal Flames), or Wood’s Will Be Done (Twin Adders). Complete it.
Once you’ve done that, you have to look for the mission My Little Chocobo. Depending on which Grand Company you’ve chosen, this will be in a different location. Below I’ll tell you exactly who you need to talk to to get it depending on who you’ve joined:
- Malestrom: Talk to R’ashaht Rhiki in Limsa Lominsa (Upper Decks X:13,1; Y:12,8).
- Immortal Flames: Talk to Swift in Ul’dah (Steps of Nald X:8,4; Y:8,9).
- Twin Adder: Talk to Vorsaile Heuloix in the main area of New Gridania (X:9,7; Y:11,1).
With the reward from your previous quest, you will need to go talk to the Quartermaster of your Grand Company. You will find him at the post that your GC (either Maelstrom, Immortal Flames or Twin Adder) has in their respective city. Talkable and, in the “Materiel” tab, you will find the item Choccobo Issue. Buy it and take it back to the NPC who gave you the My Little Chocobo quest in order to get your mount. Remember use the object which gives you the quest upon completion to add the chocobo to your mount list.
