Epic Games rolled out a new update to Fortnite on July 4, introducing the Summer of Sweat event, the removal of cars, and many other changes.
The annual Sweaty Summer event runs from Thursday, July 4 to Thursday, July 18. During these two weeks, Fortnite players can expect several changes to the Battle Royale Ranked and Zero Build modes.
The patch notes for the July 4 update highlight the latest adjustments, including the removal of vehicles and associated items, including Mythic Cars. This particular move follows weeks of player complaints about modified cars dominating games.
This latest update also removed the Nitro Gauntlets, the powerful melee weapon introduced at the start of Chapter 5 Season 3.

During the Sweaty Summer event, the Battle Royale Ranked and Zero Build modes will change a bit! From July 4 to July 18:
- Vehicles and vehicle-related items are disabled, including Mythic Cars.
- Nitro Gauntlets are also disabled.
- Characters are no longer recruitable, but hostile characters and bosses (and their medallions) are still present.
This update and the Fortnite Summer 2024 event are already available on all platforms.
In addition to the changes mentioned above, the Sweaty Summer event also introduced a new series of in-game quests. Completing them will allow players to obtain rewards such as the Water Levels Coating, the Squale Skywing Glider, and the Canardair back accessory, obtained after completing 10, 15 and 20 quests respectively.
The summer party will not end with the conclusion of the Sweaty Summer event. New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed content will be available starting Friday, July 19, including the Jack Sparrow skin, a Black Pearl-centric point of interest, and more.
