Here’s a new observation tower from Zelda Tears of the Kingdom that’s going to give you a problem. No monsters to kill this time or brambles to burn, but stairs completely buried under snow! You’re going to have to go underneath if you hope to open this tower.
How to activate Gerudo Heights Tower?
- Region : Gerudo Lands
- Issue : the door is under the snow, inaccessible.
- Solution : go through a cave to arrive from below using Infiltration
Although the Gerudo Canyon Tower is more convenient for accessing the City and therefore Riju’s main quest, the Heights Tower is also essential for getting around and exploring Hyrule easily.
Near the tower, you can see a tent with a book telling you about a cave. This is obviously your goal: in front of the tower is the entrance to the Esmera Plateau Cave. Inside, you can find Grosaillieh’s building materials. All you need to do is grab a fairly wide wooden plank with Grip and let it float on the water, all the way to the right against the cliff.
Get on the board and let the current take you to the waterfall (don’t worry, the board will cushion you). Your final goal is to arrive right between the pillars, in the middle of the water. Don’t hesitate to shoot an arrow from ice (white chuchu jelly or glagla fruit) to create a platform on the water.
Climb up and use Infiltration to get inside the Tower and activate the mechanism. Watch the video walkthrough at the very top of the article for more help.
Unlock all TotK observation towers
If you want to map out your entire Hyrule map before embarking on in-depth exploration or completing the main quests, then you will need to go through the 15 towers available on the Surface. This will also unlock the sky map for you at the same time. As for the Depths, you need to illuminate them using the roots.
And while some are very simple to activate (you just have to open the doors), others like the one on the Plain are a little more complex.
