A blockchain security expert has warned that The Open Network (TON), the blockchain platform affiliated with Telegram, is facing an increase in phishing attacks.
According to Yu Xian, founder of security firm SlowMist, the TON ecosystem includes many decentralized applications (DApps) and tokens based on the TON blockchain that have become targets of scammers amid its growth chaos in 2024.
Yu Xian highlighted in an X post on June 23 that fraudulent activities in the TON ecosystem are on the rise.
According to Xian, phishing vulnerabilities on the TON ecosystem are related to scammers’ easy access to message groups, where they post phishing links. The moderator stated:
“The Telegram ecosystem is too free, and many scam links – or bots – are spread through group messages, airdrops, and other scam methods to siphon off users’ TON wallets in droves.”
