Marvel has released a first-look image featuring a large portion of the cast for the upcoming Marvel movie. Oddly enough, the image was deleted shortly after.
Marvel recently sparked excitement among fans when it released, and then hastily removed, a video celebrating its 85th anniversary. The one-minute clip, posted to the franchise’s official Twitter account, offered a long-awaited first look at the Thunderbolts movie, before being mysteriously deleted minutes after its release.
The next big Marvel shows itself (a little)
The Thunderbolts Project, set for April 30, 2025, is one of the most anticipated films in the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film brings together a star-studded cast, including Florence Pugh, who reprises her role as Yelena Belova, and Sebastian Stan, as the Winter Soldier. The Thunderbolts’ concept is reminiscent of DC’s Suicide Squad, where a team of morally ambiguous characters are tasked with high-risk missions.
David Harbour also returns as Alexei Shostakov, aka the Red Guardian, who he introduced in Black Widow. Other notable cast members include Wyatt Russell as John Walker, known as U.S. Agent, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, a fearsome character introduced in Black Widow. Hannah John-Kamen plays Ghost, an antagonist seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, an intriguing figure who seems to orchestrate the actions of this team.
In the clip, a brief sequence shows the Thunderbolts team gathered in an elevator, a sober setting but one that suggests a complex and tension-filled group dynamic. This scene, while short, immediately captured the attention of fans, who were keen on the promise of a plot rich in action and twists.
The decision to remove the video so quickly after its release remains a mystery. It’s possible that Marvel wanted to keep the suspense around this project by only giving a short window to see this first look. Alternatively, it could be a timing error or an unintentional leak. Either way, this removal has only increased the interest and impatience of fans.
