The Nox Gem is not very rare in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom but it could make you rich if you farm enough of it! And if you come across a Lithorok with a blue stone on its back, don’t forget to use its heart!
What are nox gems used for?
Unlike other gemstones that have a fairly rare drop rate when you break rocks (hello rough diamond), nox gems can be obtained in large quantities when you know where to look. So much so that it quickly becomes profitable to sell them! Even if their price is only 20 rubies eachthat’s already more than any other resource in your inventory. The nox gem isn’t really useful for much else since it can’t be cooked and when using Amalgam, it only grants +1 attack. Breaking nox rocks can also give you flintuseful for making a fire or hanging on the end of your arrows. Note that in the village of Cocorico, it is possible to buy a Nox Outfit which allows you to shine in the night just like the gems.
Good to know : Nox Gem Veins only respawn after a Blood Moon.
Where to find nox gems?
If you want to farm nox gems to sell them, you will need to locate the blue rock clusters that glow at night (spend time in a bed or near a fire). Then use a mallet (Amalgam: stick or weapon + rock) to break the nox veins. You can use the power of Yunobo, the Goron, if you want to save your tools. Here are the best places to find nox gems:
- In the secret passage under the castle: go to Fort Guet, in your survival shelter, and talk to Jérine to unlock the hole in the wall. A gigantic maze of underground passages will then open up to you with tons of nox gems to collect,
- On the mountains, especially that of the Ordinn volcano,
- Into the Depths: The chasms of Hyrule are veritable mines of precious stones of all kinds.
- Eliminate the Lithorok nox hiding in a cave filled with gems,
- In this same cave is one of the pieces of equipment from the Barbarian Outfit, a reward from Lambda’s Treasure.
The Heart of Lithorok Nox
In the Gonggle Hill cave hides the Lithorok Nox. You must then aim at the blue deposit on its back, ideally with an arrow, to make it fall and climb on it to cause heavy damage (using a reinforced rock mallet is ideal here). Once eliminated, the monster will drop a heart that cannot be picked up: its only use is to fuse it, with Amalgam, to one of your weapons to obtain an attack bonus of +20.
