In Pokémon GO, you can have many friends with whom you can interact depending on your friendship level. These friends can even become lucky friends and we will see if this is interesting or not.
Pokémon GO Lucky Friend: How to get one?
If you want to get a lucky friend in Niantic’s mobile game, you will first need to have reached the friendship level “Best Friends” with another player. Which means that it is necessary reach the fourth heart of your friendship gauge. To do this, you will need to interact with the desired person by opening gifts or sending them some, for example.
After that, you will have 1.1% chance that this friend will get Lucky Friend status for every interaction you have with him/her. When you have the Lucky Friend status, you will have a notification like the one shown in the second image below. This status remains as long as you do not make any trades and it is possible to have several at the same time.
Pokémon GO Lucky Friend: What is this status for?
When you trade a Pokémon with a friend who has Lucky Friend status, the traded Pokémon will be Lucky Pokémon. These creatures will have IVs in each of the statistics (HP, defense and attack) greater than or equal to 12. This allows you to transform a Pokémon with IVs that are not necessarily high into a much more powerful version. Note that it is also possible to obtain some without resorting to the Lucky Friend status, but it will not be guaranteed to have one.
Besides that, there is no limit to the number of Lucky Pokémon that can be obtained. In addition, they can be Shiny or Purified, however, no Dark Pokémon can become a Lucky Pokémon since they are not tradeable. One last detail to remember about these special pocket monsters is that their upgrade cost via Stardust is reduced by 50%.
