Since the sixth generation, some Pokémon can mega-evolve, but for this, they need a Mega-gem in the main games which is replaced by Mega-energy in Pokémon GO and this is what we are going to talk about today.
Mega Evolutions are supreme forms that certain Pokémon can take on during a fight in order to exceed their limit. This mechanic from the sixth generation is also present in Pokémon GO and here is everything you need to know about it.
Pokémon GO Mega Energy: What is it for?
Mega Energy is the substitute for Mega Gems to hold on your creature so that it mega-evolves which is integrated into Pokémon GO. Here, you just need to have a certain number of them to start the evolution process which will last 8 hours. Note that this resource is not stored in your bag, but like candy, so you will have to go to the summary page of your Pokémon to know how many you have for it.
The amount of Mega Energy needed to activate Mega Evolution depends on your creature as you can see below.
- 400 Mega Energy: Rayquaza.
- 300 Mega-energies: Latios, Latias, Altaria, Garchomp, Tyranitar, Gyarados, Diancie and Drattak.
- 200 Mega-energies: Jungko, Laggron, Braségali, Charizard, Tortank, Florizarre, Gengar, Kangourex, Ptera, Absol, Steelix, Alakazam, Lockpin, Gardevoir, Oniglali, Scizor, Pharamp, Scarabrute, Blizzaroi and Galeking.
- 100 Mega Energy: Elecsprint, Charmina, Pidgey, Beedle, Snefix, Houndoom, Branette and Slowbro.
Pokémon GO Mega Energy: How to get it?
If you want to get Mega Energy, there are several ways to get it.
- Win Mega Raids. Be careful, the Mega Energy obtained depends on the Raid you have done.
- Walking with a Pokémon from the Family of a Pokémon that has already Mega Evolved.
- By completing certain field study missions.
- By doing one-off studies or special studies like the one called “A Mega-Discovery”.
Note that the number of Mega Energy obtained by winning a Mega Raid depends on your speed in beating it.
- 30 seconds and less: 250 Mega-Energy
- 31 seconds and 1 minute 15 seconds: 225 Mega-Energy
- 1 minute and 16 seconds to 2 minutes and 30 seconds: 200 Mega Energy
