A new event has just started on Pokémon GO! It’s called Star Evolution and allows you to participate in 4 special Collection Challenges to obtain valuable rewards such as Unova Stones. The event takes place from Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. to Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 8 p.m.
How to evolve Cosmog into Cosmovum?
If you managed to get your Cosmog through the quest A Cosmic Companion, you can now evolve it into Cosmovum simply with 25 Cosmog candies (you also got them as a reward for the quest, don’t worry). Don’t worry, Niantic has announced that other Cosmog will be catchable later in the game.
Be careful though, it is not yet possible to evolve Cosmovum into Solgaleo or Lunala.
Star Evolution Eevee Challenge: How to get Aquali, Voltali and Pyroli?
The first collection challenge asks you to capture an Aquali, a Jolteon and a Pyroli. These creatures are very rare in the wild, you really have to capture an Eevee and manage to evolve it. Below, you will find our guide dedicated to Eevee evolutions but note that The nickname technique only works the first time.
So, if this is not the first time you evolve Eevee into Aquali, Voltali and Pyroli by renaming them, you will simply have to click on “evolve” and hope to find the right one. Rest assured, the techniques are more complex to obtain Sylveon, Umbreon and the other evolutions. Therefore, with a simple click, you are sure to come across either Aquali, Voltali or Pyroli.
To optimize this and not waste too much time, remember to use Nanana Berries (or silver) when you capture an Eevee, in order to have more candy.

Star Evolution Challenge Exchange: How to get Gengar and Alakazam?
As its name suggests, this challenge emphasizes trading between players. Indeed, Ectoplasma and Alakazam are among the Pokémon that can evolve when exchanged (or at least their pre-evolutions, Spectrum and Kadabra). This avoids consuming a large quantity of candy (200).
- Ectoplasma : To obtain this Pokémon, you can either evolve it manually using 200 Spectrum candies, or trade your Spectrum to another player so that it evolves for free.
- Alakazam : It’s exactly the same here. Use 200 Kadabra Candy or trade it with a friend to evolve it for free.
Challenge Rewards: 1 Sun Stone + 1 Royal Rock + 1 Draco Scale
Star Evolution Unys Challenge: How to get Lamperoie and Melancolux?
This time, you will have to evolve Pokémon from the Unova region: Lamperoie and Melancolux. You just have to click on “evolve” by collecting candies because it is only their evolutions that require a Stone.
- Lamprey : this is the evolution of Anchwatt. So capture Anchwatt until you get 25 candies to make it evolve,
- Melancholux : this is the evolution of Funécire so, in the same way, capture it until you get 25 candies to make it evolve.
Challenge Reward: 2 Unys Stones
Star Evolution Sinnoh Challenge
Again, the challenge asks you to evolve Pokémon to their second stage and not the third stage which requires special items. So all you need is candy and to catch the pre-evolution:
- Rhinoferos: Capture Rhinocorns to get 25 candies and make it evolve,
- Piglet: Capture Marcacrin to get 25 candies and evolve it,
- Kirlia: Capture Tarsal to get 25 candies and evolve it,
- Teraclope: Capture Skélénox to get 25 candies and make it evolve,
Of course, these Pokémon are available in the wild for the duration of the event!
Challenge Reward: 4 Sinnoh Stones
