Sony changes the terms and conditions of PlayStation Stars with two changes that the community does not like

Sony is changing the terms and conditions of the PlayStation Stars loyalty program with two changes that the PS5 and PS4 community and users do not like at all.

PlayStation Stars, the PlayStation loyalty program that rewards your use of games on PS5 and PS4 and participation in various campaigns with monthly “missions” with digital collectibles or points, has updated its operating policy.

If you are signed up for PlayStation Starsyou will have received an email announcing the changes to the terms and conditions, which you must accept in order to continue using the service.

And the changes are not positive for the community: on the one hand, they add an expiration date to the points, which did not have them before. And on the other, you will no longer get points when paying for the PS Plus subscription.

PlayStation Stars points now expire

While there was previously no expiration date, your PlayStation Stars points will now expire after 12 months, starting froml October 24, 2024.

That is, all the PlayStation Stars points you earn from October 24th will expire 12 at the end of the month adding 12 months from the date they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance.

To give some room, the points obtained before October 24, 2024 They will expire at the end of the month, adding up to 24 months from the date they appear in your PlayStation Stars account balance.

But perhaps the most controversial point is that You will no longer get points when paying for PS Plussomething that many users appreciated because it somewhat alleviated the “hit” of paying for PS Plus every month.

Some purchases made on PlayStation Store also gave points for PS Stars, as long as you were subscribed to PS Plus. That included not only game purchases, but also PS Plus subscription payments, whether annual, quarterly, monthly…

Since those points could be converted into wallet discounts, it was just another way to redeem PS Plus, but as of March 1, 2025, that will no longer be the case:

Starting March 1, 2025, Eligible Purchases will exclude all subscription payment methods made on PlayStation Store, including upfront payments or subscription renewals for PlayStation Plus or any other subscription service.“.

You can check out the new PlayStation Stars terms and conditions here and you’ll need to accept them before October 24th, which is when the first change regarding the expiration of points comes into effect…
