During your adventure on Star Wars Outlaws, you will have to unlock all sorts of doors and other computers in order to access forbidden areas, deactivate alarms or even find treasures. If the data spike is obtained from the start and Kay Vess will quickly learn to hack information via the SUTOM-style mini-game, she will still have to obtain a hacking kit to loot certain areas. Here’s how to do it.
Where to find a hacking kit?
Unlike games like Starfield or Skyrim, picking locks doesn’t require picking up hairpins or lockpicks scattered around the floor. In Outlaws, you only need unlock the necessary tools like data spike or hacking kit.
The latter is obtained only by completing the Expert quest “The Pirate”which you will therefore first have to find and then help.
Where to find the expert La Pirate?
Experts are NPCs that are needed to unlock new abilities for Kay. You can meet several of them on each planet in the game and it is really essential to complete their various missions to obtain useful tools and skills for the duration of the adventure.
- Regarding the hacking kit, you will have to go and talk to Aila Bren called “The Pirate”,
- To find it, you must first complete the Main Quest “New Towers” : you will then automatically get a clue about The Pirate,
- Now go to Mirogana, on the planet Toshara. More precisely, go to the Makal’s Game Room,
- Approach the jukebox and “listen” to the conversation to unlock the next part of the new quest.
- Go to the location indicated in the game, which will take you to the district ofScarlet Dawn : it is better to have a good reputation with them to make things easier, otherwise you will have to infiltrate discreetly by going through the air ducts,
- Once inside, the mission will ask you to find the Contact Aila. Even if you have a good reputation with the Dawn, be aware that the area north of the factory is strictly forbidden, but don’t panic: the contact is to the far east and you don’t need to go past the guards.
- Talk to the contact to unlock the mission “The Pirate” and receive the hacking kit.
How to hack computers?
The hack kit works like the classic hack except that it allows you to access more things. Once activated, you will have to succeed in a mini-game which is presented as a SUTOM grid (The Word, Wordle etc). The trick is to try as many symbols as possible until some of them are colored yellow (this means that they are part of the code but they are not in the right place) or green (they are in the right place and will not move).
