No matter which path you choose in Starfield, sooner or later you will meet someone who is not willing to negotiatethat you cannot bribe or convince with your rhetoric. You will have to resort to aggressive negotiations practiced by those who choose the path of violence.
If you don’t want some idiot to kick your butt, you must have your equipment ready for resist everything whatever they throw at you and cause as much damage as possible in the shortest time. And how is this achieved? By improving both space suits and weapons.
Upgrading Equipment in Starfield comes at a price, and not just in credits. Fans of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls know this all too well. There are a number of steps you need to follow to make your revolver look like a real cannon and your outfit stand out. They are as follows:
- It doesn’t matter what background or trait you choose, but you must have the skills “Weapons Engineering” and “Space Suit Design” from the Science skill branch. These allow you to access the different levels of weapon and suit upgrades respectively.
- Use the Research Table to research blueprints, which in turn means farming the materials required for each research. The easiest way is to specialize in one type of weapon (pistols, for example) and carry around pistols of different calibers. You can also specialize in two or more types of weapons, but that requires more Skill Points and resources. As for outfits, research the ones you like the most.
- Use the Table of Weapons and Suit Table to add upgrades. Don’t wait until you have the perfect weapon or outfit. Modify all the weapons and outfits you can get your hands on (they increase in value when you sell them), since skills require you to add X upgrades to rank up.
This is a slow process and that inevitably passes through Farm lots of materialsIf all this is too much for you, you can always buy outfits and weapons as they are in the shops… or steal them from enemies. It’s more convenient, but you’ll never develop the true potential of all the equipment.
