Like every year on Pokémon GO, the Chinese New Year is celebrated and Niantic offers us an event around several creatures. In 2021, we celebrate in particular the year of the Ox.

Lunar New Year occurs from February 9 at 10:00 a.m. until February 14 at 1:00 p.m.
Features of Lunar New Year 2021 on Pokémon GO
The event will highlight all red-colored Pokémon (and its variants) to celebrate the Year of the Ox. Their spawn rate in the wild, in Raids, and in Eggs will be much higher.
Some notable bonuses
- Gifts will contain more Poké Balls
- You have a higher chance of becoming a lucky friend with a player
- Lucky Trades are more likely to happen randomly
- The exchange distance is increased to 40 km from February 8 to February 15

In addition to the Pokémon present in Raids, Mega Gyarados will also appear alongside Mega Pidgey and Mega Ampharos until February 20.
