The first portable console that uses augmented reality arrives on Kickstarter

It is increasingly common to see portable consoles being launched that seek to offer spectacular performance or that have much better support and compatibility than what we already have, but this is not the only thing that matters in these cases, since there are models that seek to innovate beyond offering basic improvements. In this case, one of these portable consoles that want to change the way of playing is the Pocket Goa model that we saw presented a few months ago, which is now available on Kickstarter and which stands out for incorporating the augmented reality to one console portable.

When we talk about portable consoles, it is normal that the first thing that comes to mind is the format that has made the Steam Deck fashionable, with a size and power that offers the ability to play any of our favorite titles anywhere. . This is something that is evolving more and more, and many companies have developed their own console, offering performance, along with certain functions, that end up surpassing what the Steam Deck offers, but there are others that want to take it further, such as the Pocket Go that makes use of augmented reality instead of a traditional screen.

A portable console very different from the others, it does not incorporate a screen

Many people may think that current portable consoles are anything but portable, and there is the problem that they can be excessively large for certain people, since the fact that they have the built-in screen along with the rest of the hardware, in the end makes it have a considerable size. But this new model wants to avoid this, since its size is not much larger than that of a console controller, since it has the advantage that it does not incorporate a screen, but can be linked to any device.

We are really looking at a computer in the form of a controller that can then be connected to all types of peripherals, including normal monitors, portable screens, or augmented reality glasses directly. In this case, the portable console is currently on Kickstarter with a series of different configurations that we can choose from, since there are two variants for both RAM and storage, since we can choose between 16 and 32 GB of RAM as well as between 512 GB and 1 TB of storage.

The device has a processor Ryzen 7 8840HS of amdwhile the strong point would be in the AR glasses that it incorporates, which according to what they indicate, allows it to offer a Micro OLED screen of up to 215 inches. In this case we can get both the console and the glasses separately, the device itself has a price that ranges between €496 and €644 (if we count the early bird discount), while the glasses cost about €322.

The company that created them obviously offers the possibility of buying packs of both devices, so we could get the 16 GB+512GB model with the glasses for €801, or the 32GB+1TB model also with the glasses for about €966. €.
