The former CEO of PayPal confirmed that he is still holding Bitcoin

Peter Thiel, former CEO of PayPal and co-founder of Founders Fund, has confirmed that he still holds Bitcoin (BTC) despite expressing some reservations about the currency’s future price potential.

During a recent interview with CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Thiel was asked if he had ever sold his Bitcoin holdings.

“I still have some left. But I should have bought more.” he admitted.

However, Thiel has expressed some doubts about Bitcoin’s future price potential. “I’m not sure the price will increase that much from now on”he said, tempering expectations of those hoping prices would rise significantly further.

Earlier this year, Reuters reported that Thiel’s venture capital firm, Founders Fund, had invested 100 million USD in Bitcoin when the price is under 30,000 USD. The company is said to have started investing in Bitcoin as early as 2014 and made a staggering amount of money 1.8 billion USD by selling before the market crashes in 2022.

Despite his recent comments, Thiel has long been a Bitcoin supporter. During the 2021 bull run, he expressed regret over not investing more in BTC.
