The Lenovo Legion Go with its detachable controllers (like the Nintendo Switch) is at a knockdown price for Black Friday Week

After Valve, Razer and Asus, it was Lenovo’s turn to release its portable console, the Legion Go. A real monster, both in terms of its dimensions and its performance, capable of offering as much versatility as the Switch. The Lenovo Legion Go also takes advantage of Black Friday Week to appear at a reduced price: 649.99 euros instead of 799.99 euros.

We can say that the Steam Deck has started a new trend, and even a revival of the portable console market. Since its release, other manufacturers have marketed their own model: Asus, Razer, and more recently Lenovo with its Legion Go. Largely inspired by the Nintendo Switch, it stands out for its versatility and high-end performance. . During Black Friday Week, she enjoys a nice reduction of 150 euros.

The advantages of the Lenovo Legion Go

  • A versatile alternative to the Steam Deck or ROG Ally
  • Crazy performance and autonomy!
  • Possibility of connecting an external GPU with its USB 4

Instead of the usual 799.99 euros, the Lenovo Legion Go is now available on sale at 649 euros at Fnac And Baker.

The best alternative to Steam Deck and ROG Ally

To describe the Lenovo Legion Go in a few words, we can say that it is a Nintendo Switch XXL with the power of a mini-PC, and we emphasize this comparison with the Switch because of its kickstand on the back and its detachable controllers. In terms of handling, it’s a real monster which still weighs around 850 g. We still remain won over, on the one hand thanks to the FPS mode which makes the Legion Go a mini-PC by using the right controller as a vertical mouse and the left controller as a kind of keyboard.

On the screen side, the Chinese manufacturer opts for an 8.8-inch IPS-LCD panel with a definition of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a 16:10 ratio, and above all with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Under our probe, the Lenovo Legion Go gives good measurements: 136.9% for sRGB coverage and 97% for DCI-P3. Brightness peaks at 479 cd/m². On the other hand, the Legion Go displays both high contrast colors and a cool color temperature of over 8000K. Too bad Lenovo doesn’t offer customization in this area.

Peak performance, but half-finished software

The main advantage of the Lenovo Legion Go is its power. This console integrates a Z1 Extreme chip with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, like the premium configuration of the Asus ROG Ally. Moreover, our benchmarks indicate that the Legion Go plays in the same league as the ROG Ally Z1 Extreme, it is able to run graphically demanding AAA games. In addition, thanks to its USB 4 port, it is possible to connect the console to an external graphics card to raise the level even further.

The Lenovo Legion Go seems to be the perfect portable console so far, but there is one point that makes you cringe, and that is the software. It feels like the developers didn’t have time to finish Legion Space, some tabs are actually shortcuts leading to a poorly optimized integrated browser. But the Legion Go makes up for it with the shortcuts pane which is very good. Finally, in terms of autonomy, the 49.2 Wh battery offers reassuring scores, with no good or bad surprises.
