One of the most anticipated processors of 2024, especially for gamers, is the Ryzen 7 9800X3Da processor with Zen 5 architecture that comes to the market to replace the Rzyen 7 7800X3D with Zen 4 architecture, the best gaming processor that we can find on the market. On November 7, as AMD announced a few days ago, the new range of Ryzen Series 9000X3D processors will be released, although everything indicates that the first to hit the market will be the 9800X3D.
We know practically everything about the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, including the price, however, it was not yet known for sure what performance improvement it will offer compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Both processors have 8 cores and 16 threads.
Once again, thanks to the leaks, we already know what the improvement of performanceinformation that does not come from a benchmark that appeared on Geekbench or anything like that. This information comes from one’s own amd through a marketing slide that has ended up where it should not have ended up, in a specialized media.
AMD confirms what the performance improvement of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will be compared to the 7800X3D
As we can read in the ADM slide to which the VideoCarzd media has had access, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D offers an 8% more performance in video games with respect to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. On the same slide, you can also read that the workload has been improved multithread by 16%.
Much of this improvement is due to the use of Next generation 3D V-Cache memory which allows it to offer better thermal performance than the previous generation in addition to raising the maximum clock speed by 200 MHz to 5.2 GHz, and starting from 4.7 GHz, 500 MHz more than the model it replaces on the market.
Despite the improvements introduced in this new generation, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has a TDP 120W, the same as the previous generation and with the same 96 MB L3 cache memory. Something that we already knew and that is also shown on this slide is the support for DDR5 6000 memory capable of going up to 8000 MB/S by overclocking. It uses socket AM5 and is compatible with most motherboards available on the market, but not all.
The performance improvement figures claimed by AMD fall short if we compare the performance of this new processor using Precision Boost Drive to increase its performance to raise the maximum clock speed to 5.6 GHz, a process that was done by a user on the Anandtech forums.
After performing performance tests with Cinebench, in multi-core tests it obtained a 35% more performance in comparison the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a 25% improvement in the single-core test, figures very far from what it will officially be able to offer without modifying it.
Regarding the price, in the absence of official confirmation, based on the information available through different retailers in the United States, everything seems to indicate that the price that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will have will be 559 euros, 50 euros more than the processor it replaces. .
