However, they are not the only models available on the market, as long as we are talking about reasonable prices. A few weeks ago, we talked about the sneaker-shaped PC case. Cooler Master, a box that can already be purchased in several countries for just over 1,000 euros and that includes both the motherboard and the power supply and several heatsinks with RGB lighting.
The sneaker-shaped PC case is not the only eccentric case model that Cooler Mater has launched on the market. At CES 2024, this manufacturer presented the PC Sharkbased on a mod called Leviathan that won the 2019 Cooler Master World Series of Mods, a PC with a shark-shaped case and managed by the Intel Core i7-14700F along with a graphics card NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.
This model hit the market for just over $7,000, however, and as expected, it has not had the success that Cooler Master expected and, as happened with the Sneaker It’s time to get rid of the stock of this curious box design once and for all and its price has dropped considerably.
Shark X, shark-shaped PC case
This curious PC case design has just arrived at several retailers in Japan for 658,000 yen, just under 4,000 euros at today’s exchange rate. It is important to note that this is the price of the box, not all the components with which it was presented at CES 2024.
This box has space inside to color a base plate mini-ITX and has measurements of 790 x 908 x 894 mm. As we can see in the image above, the PC is held on the tail of the shark, on a hexagonal base with RGB lighting. It is white and has RGB lighting on both the fins and the head.
4,000 euros for a shark-shaped PC case without any components inside is truly outrageous. At least the sneaker-shaped model included a motherboard, power supply, and several heatsinks with RGB lighting.
At the moment, we do not know if the company’s plans include launching this curious design outside of Japan. If the intention is to get rid of all the available stock, it is more than likely that it will reach other countries such as the United States and even some countries in Europe.
The bad sales experience that both the pc case in the form of a sneaker like this one in the shape of a shark is obviously due to its high price. If these boxes reached the market, at most, for around 500 euros, they would have a greater market.
If the manufacturing cost is very high, continuing to invest in boxes with exclusive designs is not profitable for the company. However, that does not mean that, during the next CES, Cooler Master will not surprise us with another eccentricity.
