Like Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree introduces many characters, each tied to a quest that is more or less difficult to complete. In addition to being profitable, these quests also have unexpected repercussions later on. Here’s everything you need to know about Thiollier, who has a very special connection to one of Miquella’s facets: Saint Trina.
Initial position
The adventure begins in the Plain of Sepulchre. Thiollier is in an isolated area, southeast of the large stone bridge. He is sitting next to a Miquella Cross, which makes him easy to spot. Thiollier sells various items related to poisons, but you don’t need to buy anything from him. Go talk to Moore in front of Belurat’s dungeon, he will ask you to hand over a vial of Black liquor in Thiollier.

After talking to Thiollier, go talk to Moore in front of Belurat dungeon. He will ask you to hand over a vial of Black liquor in Thiollier.
- Talk to Thiollier, then give him the Black Liqueur.
- Then ask him about it.
- Then tell him that life is wearing you out, and he will give you a Thiollier Concoction. Drinking it is deadly, so don’t touch it.
Sealed and hidden by Miquella
Be careful, there is an additional condition before you can start the sequel and make Thiollier move. You must have triggered the event of destroying Miquella’s Major Rune. It is triggered by approaching the Black Castle, or the Cathedral of Manus Metyr (among others). The dungeon to the south of the map is sealed by Miquella beforehand, and Thiollier refuses to move.
Travel on the South Coast
To trigger the next part of the quest, you need to explore the southern section of the map. Check out our Map Fragments guide to find out how to easily reach the locations. You will discover a new Miquella cross, as well as purple flowers.
Go back and talk to Thiollier, he will tell you that he has found the trail of Sainte Trina, so he will travel to the South too. However, he does not appear anywhere on the map to our knowledge. You will have to advance further into the area before meeting him again, in the heat of the action.
Stone Coffin Cracks
Travel to the peninsula in the south of the continent, to find a huge hole. Going down inside, you will enter the dungeon of the Stone Coffin Fissure. There is another Cross of Miquella.
You won’t meet Thiollier, however, until you’ve made a Leap of Faith into the gigantic hole at the end of the dungeon. When you land in the boss room, the Putrid Knight, you can interact with a Golden Summoning Mark on the ground, that of Thiollier. You are not forced to summon him during this fight to continue his quests. It’s up to you to see if the helping hand is appreciated or not.

The fight will then begin with Thiollier, in the main cavern. By defeating him, you will receive the Saint Trina Smile talismanwhich boosts attack when a sleep effect is active nearby.

Boss Leda and her allies
Thiollier has no further role to play in the story until near the very end. After defeating Messmer and opening the Shadow Tower, Leda will realize that you were never an ally of Miquella, quite the opposite. A formidable fight awaits you, with Leda, Dane, and all the other companions by default on one side, which makes it absolutely brutal by default. But by completing the companions’ quests, you can rally them to your cause in certain cases. In this case, you can choose to interact with Thiollier’s Golden Mark on the ground, before the fight, in order to obtain his welcome assistance against Leda.
If you have not drunk enough Nectar, or have not passed on the words of Saint Trina to Thiollier, his mark will be missing. He will also not be with your opponents. After defeating Leda, Thiollier will disappear from Saint Trina’s cavern, and his equipment will also be lost.
Final Boss
If you summoned Thiollier during the fight against Leda, he will be physically present in the room afterwards. You will be able to talk to him, and his golden mark will be present in front of the final boss room. There is no need to summon him during the fight, he would be more of a penalty than a bonus anyway, since the boss’s life increases with each summon. Once the final boss is defeated, you will be able to find Thiollier’s body in the area, with his equipment.
Death of Saint Trina and her flower
After your victory, return to Saint Trina’s cave to discover her corpse. She nevertheless left you an object, a flower-shaped helmet, which increases CP. Its defensive values are nevertheless laughable, or even downright negative for piercing damage.
