While Steam Deck dominates the portable gaming PC market, Ayaneo returns with a powerful machine. The Ayaneo 3 uses the latest generation AMD processors and an Oled screen.
For the moment, it’s a pre-announcement of the Ayaneo 3. The portable console market has been experiencing real development in recent years. After the resounding success of the Steam Deck, Ayaneo wants to be the reference in the sector, and it presents its new Ayaneo 3.

The context is that manufacturers are waiting for AMD’s future Extreme Z2 chip, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Ayaneo 3 is first distinguished by its processor options. The manufacturer offers two configurations: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U and the powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The latter represents a real technological leap forward with its 12 cores (4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5C) and its AI computing capacity is of 50 TOPS.
The graphics part is not left out with the Radeon 890M GPU with 16 RDNA 3.5 calculation units. This latest generation graphics architecture promises exceptional performance for a portable console.
What about the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370? In fact, it was reserved for portable PCs, and not console PCs. OneXFly is trying the same move, and it’s promising.
Another subject, the Ayaneo 3 will have a 7-inch Oled screen, but we have no details other than HDR compatibility and the fact that the screen is “high refresh”. There’s also an LCD option, certainly to bring down the entry-level rating.
A redesigned user experience
The Ayaneo 3 doesn’t just rely on raw power. The Chinese manufacturer has obviously listened to user feedback to improve the ergonomics of its console. The new rear buttons, whose position has been ergonomically optimized, offer new control possibilities. The addition of a trigger lock feature reflects real thought into the gaming experience.
The audio system has also been redesigned with front-facing speakers developed in collaboration with sound specialists. While the promises of “immersive sound beyond expectations” remain to be verified, this attention to audio is commendable in a sector where it is often overlooked.
Persistent gray areas
Despite these promising advances, several questions remain unanswered. The price, an essential element for this type of product, has not yet been communicated. Knowing Ayaneo’s premium positioning, we can expect a high price, particularly for the version equipped with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Oled screen.
Autonomy also remains a mystery. With such computing power, particularly on the high-end model with its TDP of up to 54 W, managing power consumption will be a big topic. Previous Ayaneo models have often sinned on this point, it will be interesting to see how the brand has managed this challenge.

The Windows factor: advantage or disadvantage?
Choosing Windows as the operating system provides maximum compatibility with the PC library. However, the Windows interface is not optimized for small screens and touch controls, unlike SteamOS. For the moment, Ayaneo explained to us that they were waiting for answers from Valve on SteamOS compatibility.
While waiting for more information from Ayaneo, particularly on the price and release date, this third generation seems to have a bright future.
