The Warframe 1999 demo offers players the chance to unlock a cosmetic skin for the Skana sword, try out the Atomicycle, fire Arthur’s AX-52 rifle, and take part in a new mission.
Warframe 1999 is the latest expansion for the popular free-to-play space adventure game, and it takes players back to the time when the first Warframes appeared. To celebrate the upcoming launch, the developers have made available a demo of this new extension.
This is extremely exciting news for fans who are eagerly awaiting the release planned for Winter 2024.
Here’s how to play the Warframe 1999 demo, what’s in it, and how to unlock the new Protokol longsword skin.
Release date
The Warframe 1999 demo has been available since October 16, 2024. The developers have not yet announced the end date for this demo, but we will update this section as soon as additional information is released.

The Warframe 1999 demo is not available for direct download. You will need to follow the following steps to access it:
- Log in to Warframe or create an account and install the game.
- Complete Vor’s Trophy – Warframe’s introductory quest and tutorial.
- Go to the PC on your Orbiter (where the Conclave console was located).
- Press the “X” button to connect.
- A pop-up for the Warframe 1999 demo will appear. Select the button “Play the demo“.
Once you’ve followed these steps, you’ll be able to dive straight into the Warframe 1999 demo and experience the new content.
What does the demo contain?
In the Warframe 1999 demo, players take on the role of Arthur Nightingalethe squad leader of the Hex, infused with the Warframe Excalibur. During the demo, you will be able to explore the streets of Höllvania, ride Arthur’s Atomicycle, fire the AX-52, and destroy waves of Scaldra who patrol the streets during a special Extermination mission.
The demo can be completed in around 10 minutes, but you can spend more time if you want to explore Höllvania or test the Atomicycle.

Players who complete the Warframe 1999 demo will receive rewards Protokol longsword skin. This cosmetic features red and white cloth wrapped around the blade guard.
The Protokol skin will be sent to your in-game inbox as soon as you complete the Warframe 1999 demo.
