~600 shared Claude conversations and Artifacts were indexed by Google and Bing, discovered around July 25–26, 2026.

Exposed data included resumes with contact details, API keys, financial info, a lawyer's case notes, and apparent SSNs.

The cause: 'share' links create a public webpage accessible without login — and search engines index public pages by default.

Users were told 'anyone with the link' could view a shared chat, but not clearly warned it could be indexed by Google.

Anthropic fixed it via robots.txt and other measures, clearing the results by July 28 — but the same pattern has hit ChatGPT before.
