A few hours ago we went to sleep with one of those news items that only serves to embolden gamers in the world. team #physicalgames in his battle against those of #teamformatodigitalas if there were a war and not commercial interests, in this case of SEGA. And it is something so strange that we can only wonder what could be behind it. What plans do the Japanese want to implement soon?
We are all clear that with the appearance of the smartphones and tablets, the way entertainment products are distributed has been completely transformed and there is practically no debate about the future of the physical format in all of this. What’s more, in a kind of evolution of that idea, we can find subscription services from Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and… now SEGA?
SEGA loads a lot of its best-known classics
The news that sparked all the rumors was the announcement that starting December 6will disappear from digital stores where a list of more than 60 classic Japanese games are sold. Names that you have surely played on one of the legendary SEGA consoles and of course recreational ones. So it will no longer be possible to buy them again (apparently) in any of the stores on-line.
Obviously, a movement like this has to serve a larger intention, a much larger plan that will try to exploit those games in another way, and of course, a possibility has automatically come to mind that is not, at all, far-fetched: that SEGA are preparing your own flat rate of subscription games and for that it is going to resort to the claim of those classics from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. If not, what other option is there? Delete them forever so that no one can officially enjoy them?
As we tell you, the list is not small and leaves us with 62 titles that we all have engraved in our hearts. seguero. So if you haven’t bought them yet, you can either start by spending the savings you have in the piggy bank, or you can watch them inevitably disappear.
