Eating and sleeping aren’t the only techniques for getting your red hearts back in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom! Below, we’ve listed 5 “free” ways to be able to restore your life and continue your adventure without reaching Game Over.
Before you begin, remember to always have a fairy or two in your inventory! When you die, she can then revive you and restore all of your hearts.
Brewing potions and good recipes
Let’s start with the most logical tip, the one you probably already use: cooking! While most remedies will prevent you from losing too much life by protecting you from harsh weather, for example, all recipes will allow you to quickly recover hearts. Some, based on max truffles for example, can even give you extra yellow hearts: ideal for going to face a few bosses.
Obtain a heart receptacle
When you finish a big dungeonlike the Water Temple for example, you get a new heart container when you defeat the final boss. This will then immediately heal all your other hearts. The same goes for when you trade 4 Glimmers of Benevolence to a Goddess Statue: There’s no point in healing yourself beforehand or wasting your cooked meals! Getting a new receptacle will immediately restore all your red hearts.
Complete a shrine
Similarly, if you only have a few hearts left at the end of a shrine: don’t heal yourself right away. When you activate the Rauru statue at the end of the challenge, it will restore all your hearts at once. In addition to unlocking a very useful teleportation point, completing a shrine is therefore a good way to save your rubies and ingredients.
Sleep in a bed for free
While it is possible to pay 20 Rupees in Relays to have a good night’s sleep and restore your hearts, there are three places where this can be done completely for free:
- By going to Link’s house at any time through the Lasitaqi Uaqa shrine right next door,
- Help the Village of Écaraille rebuild in order to unlock an inn where nights are free,
- Use the bed in the Fort de Guet survival shelter,
Bathing in the hot springs
In the Ordinn region, and in particular in Goron Villagethe water is naturally heated by the Death Mountain volcano. This allows it to have a relaxing effect that will restore your hearts for free in a few seconds. As soon as you come across a hot water point in the northeast corner of the map, don’t hesitate to take a dip!
And did you also know that by placing a bird egg in this boiling water you can get a hard-boiled egg?
