Do you love cooking and have understood how important it is to prepare good dishes in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom to restore your hearts or obtain effects that are very useful for exploration? As for the ruby farm, we offer you here several techniques to easily find new recipes.
Observe the posters in the Relays
Much like in Breath of the Wild, one of the best ways to learn new recipes is to spot the posters that can be found in the various relays around the map. Upon entering the inn, you will very often see a poster that tells you several ingredients : you simply identify the foods in question and put them together in a pot to obtain a new dish.
At the Delass relay, for example, the poster indicates a grape tomato and a lumos mushroom. Take both ingredients to obtain a lumos mushroom tomato stew which gives you the bioluminescence effect! Ideal for exploring the Depths.
Below is the interactive map of the relays to easily find them in Hyrule:
Complete quests
Sometimes, during a side quest, it is necessary to concoct a very specific dish for an NPC who will then give you clues on the recipe to follow. One of the simplest is to help the famous employee with his signs that he keeps dropping. Using Grip, try to hold his panel so that he gives you a special dumpling which will immediately register in your Recipes. Successfully completing the mini-tests of this dear Boulieh will also give you rubies and often other rewards like arrows or bomb flowers.
Another example of a quest is the one given in Kakariko Village where you have to gather the ingredients to give them to a grandfather who wants to make porridge. You will then get the recipe. Or simply the quest “the menu of the day” in your survival shelter at Fort Guet.
Find notebooks in wells
In each village or relay there is usually a well. It is then possible to fall into it to find one or two chests, ingredients and interesting fish. Sometimes, you will even come across a cook trying out a new recipe or a abandoned pot with a notebook next to it. By reading the book, you can get clues about a new dish.
The well in Cocorico Village, for example, allows you to find the recipe for the Robusto Stuffed Pumpkin with an Armo Pumpkin and meat. The next page even tells you how to make baked apples with 1 apple and 1 knob of butter. In general, all the ingredients mentioned (except the knob of butter to be bought in the store) can be found on the ground in the well. On the next page is the recipe for enduro honey apples with 1 honey and 1 apple (to obtain honey easily, you must have fire on you near the bees).
Visit the grocery stores
Keep your eyes peeled when you visit a shop selling ingredients in the different villages! On the stalls you might find a scroll or a recipe book. At Piaf Village for example, in the Hebra region you can learn the dishes Baked Apples, Fish Pie (1 wheat leek, 1 lump of butter, 1 salt crystal and 1 fish) and Seed Cake (1 hazelnut, 1 wheat leek, 1 lump of butter and 1 sugar cane)!
Talking to NPCs
As you explore Hyrule, don’t forget to talk to even the characters who don’t give quests. Some will tell you their favorite dishes and how they went about making them. Others, who are plagued by enemies, may thank you by giving you a dish or telling you the recipe. You will also come across, for example, a Goron who dreams of a dish made of… stones.
