Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Grip: How does vehicle crafting work?

Rich in lessons, the 10-minute gameplay video of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom finally covered what the treehouses had spent several hours presenting at the time of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Thanks to it, we were able to have an excellent preview (without showing too much), of what Link’s new powers will have in store for us: After Amalgam, today we look at the case of Emprise and the creation of vehicles.

Create your own vehicles!

A completely crazy idea but one that we can only applaud with both hands. If we have seen Eiji Aonuma use the retrospective power to reach one of the many celestial islands of Hyrule, There is no doubt that some of them will only be accessible by your own means.. And for that, you will have to use Grip to glue different mechanisms together: the mechanical golems that hang around in the sky seem to benefit from advanced technologies and Link will be able to take advantage of this by recovering mechanisms from their structures.

How power works

By deploying Grasp on his arm, Link can carry large items and glue them together. This is interesting, since it allows you to distinguish between two types of objects : those who will help in the fusion of weapons with Amalgam, and the large materials for the construction of new and/or wacky means of transport. By grabbing an element, our hero can turn it and orient it as he wishes, before attaching it directly to another by simply pressing A, Grip will then act like super glue. It is possible to detach two pieces from each other by moving the right stick from right to left. for a short second. There remains one gray area: the moment when Link hits the sail to make his raft fly away thanks to the thrusters placed at the 4 corners of the vehicle. Are all the elements stuck with Emprise attached by invisible knots? That would explain why everything reacts suddenly with a simple sword strike.

What are the limitations for construction?

This is the big question that will have to be answered on May 12. This mechanic is extremely promising and can lead to many particularly fun gameplay situations, but It probably has a bunch of rules and limitations that will prevent you from burning your Nintendo Switch trying to recreate the Millennium Falcon.. No matter what happens, there will most certainly be plenty to do, especially if our theory about building challenges holds true, with the small workshops placed all over Hyrule.
