Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Raft: How to Craft and Use One?

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom takes the recipe to a new level, not just using your powers to explore the world, but also learning how to build functional vehicles with what you have on hand that meet the needs of the moment. That’s the essence of what a raft is, in a sense.

How to make a raft?

You must have completed the first shrine on Prelude Island, and unlocked the power ofGripaka the hand that manipulates objects, and also allows you to glue them. As you advance a little further into the area, you will find a raft already prepared next to a robot, but you will have to make the next ones yourself.

It couldn’t be simpler, a raft simply consists of gluing several trunks or logs sideways, or even using planks, if there are any available. You can obtain the required materials almost anywhere, by cutting down trees. To do this, you need a sharp weapon of a sufficient level, or use the power of Amalgam, in order to fuse a weapon with a sharp rock.

The most important rule with rafts is not to make them too narrow, otherwise they will not be stable, and you will fall into the water at the worst possible moment. We advise you to make them 3 logs wide minimum4 seems to be the best compromise.

And finally, you need a means of propulsion. Your first rafts will use a sail, which must then be fixed vertically in the center of the raft for a question of balance. But later, you will use Turbineswhich are much more practical. Once your raft is ready, all you have to do is transport it to the water, using the power of Grip. A fun detail is that you can use the same vehicle on metal rails and to cross bodies of water.

Managing propulsion and traversal

If you are using a sail, you will be greatly influenced and limited by the direction of the wind and the current. For the first big raft crossing, it is better to start on the left of the area, since the wind will take you to the right, for example. Later, if there is no wind, you can also use a large sheetobtained by cutting down certain types of trees. Attacking with it, in front of the sail, will produce wind.

In practice, you will mainly use Turbines, the most common and versatile means of propulsion in the game. Just attach them absolutely anywhere on the raft, and in any quantity. Just make sure they are oriented correctly, and that they are all roughly facing the same direction. Think of the turbines like desk fan heads: the wind comes out of the grille.

Simply hit the raft or turbine with your weapon to activate it, and you’ll be propelled in the right direction. If you don’t get where you want to go when the battery runs out, just wait for it to recharge and continue. You You can even take off the Turbines with the Grip along the way by shaking the right stick, in order to reorient them and correct your trajectory by sticking to them differently.

If you are in the wild and there are no Turbines nearby, remember that you may have some in stock in your inventory, in a capsule.
