Most of the ingredients in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom can be found in nature without having to spend your rubies in the various village grocery stores! This is the case for the bushel of rice and we explain how to obtain it easily.
What is the bushel of rice used for?
The main use of the bushel of rice in Zelda TotK is obviously to be able to cook some dishes. You will need it in particular to reproduce the delicious meatballs of Boulieh, the model employee who offers you his favorite dish (and therefore the recipe) each time you help him hold up his signs. You will also need it during the side quest from the Village Cocorico entitled “The evil of miasmas”.
Here your goal will be to cure a grandmother by making her a vegetable porridge. Unfortunately, at this time, the village grocery store no longer sells rice! You are in a real pickle.
Some examples of rice-based recipes:
- Egg-crab fried rice : 1 bushel of rice + 1 crystal of salt + 1 bird egg + 2 different crabs
- Curry rice : 1 bushel of rice + 1 lump of butter + 1 bottle of Goron spices
- Fish Rice Balls : 1 bushel of rice + 2 different fish
- Herbed Rice Ball : 1 bushel of rice + 1 Hyrule grass
- Rice with venison (normal, fine or divine): 1 bushel of rice + 1 venison + 1 crystal of salt
Where can I easily find rice?
There are two methods to obtain rice in Zelda TotK:
- Buy it in the grocery stores: the one at Domaine Zora sells them for example, it costs 12 rubies the bushel. Otherwise, some street vendors, encountered on the road or near relays, may have some.
- Farm it yourself by cutting grass,
For the second option, go to the region ofEast of Necludasouth of Cocorico Village. After activating Rabelle’s observation tower, take flight and head straight for theFélatan pond. This is one of the best places to farm bushels of rice!
As shown in the video below, stand in the pond water (rice needs a lot of water to grow) and use a sword or any sharp weapon to cut off the weeds that are sticking out. Every now and then, you will get a bushel of rice! This is much cheaper than buying them.
Note that you can cut tall grass anywhere on the Hyrule map, this can sometimes yield other resources like Enduro Grasshoppers.
